Juma and the others with me were absolutely great, the best adventure for a long time! Very challenging but with great advice and more than enough good food the guys took great care of me!
We made the summit just in time for sunrise and were very lucky with the weather, almost dry daily 😉

Fantastic trek on Mount Kenya, via Chogoria and Sirimon routes - I had an amazing 5 day/4 night trek on Mount Kenya, reaching Point Lenana for sunrise on New Year's Day - a very memorable way to start 2026. I'm very glad that I chose to do my trek through Equitorial Star. Duncan was very helpful in the lead up to the trip, promptly answering various questions I had about required gear, logistics and other matters. I also advised Duncan of my request for vegan food during the trek, and this was catered to incredibly well, with tasty, healthy and filling meals throughout (including fresh fruit and vegetables, which I was amazed that the team could carry with them for all the days).
The trek itself was fantastic, led by guide Lawrence who was well-supported by the rest of the team. Lawrence was very informative about the wildlife, plants and terrain of the mountain that we saw on each day. The rest of the team did a wonderful job in making the trek as easy as possible, as we would arrive at campsites with the tent set up, and often a tasty meal and hot drink available immediately or soon after. The tent and sleeping mat provided were also comfortable.
The route used by Equitorial Star (which has a sister company, Mt Kenya Trekking Expeditions) also seems to be better than many/most other companies offering treks on Mount Kenya. Some companies ascend and descend via the same routes (e.g. Sirimon), which may be logistically easier (and therefore cheaper), but I suspect would be much less interesting as a trekker. Even some of the companies offering the same Chogoria-Sirimon route may do it less well, as it seemed like many people were spending the second night at Lake Ellis rather than the Chogoria roadhead where I did - with the advantages of the latter being that you can visit the nearby Nithi Falls (during a good weather window of your choosing) and that you walk along the picturesque Gorges Valley on the way to Mintos campsite the following day.
Overall, a wonderful experience!

Super Trek with Duncan and the whole team! - I can only recommend Duncan and his team. It was an outstanding experience. Mount Kenya is just beautiful. Everything was excellent from pickup to finish. The food was always fresh and super delicious.

Mt Kenya -Point Lenana - From the very beginning, the communication with Duncan was exceptionally good. He prepared the contract months in advance, and I easily paid the deposit at that time, with the remaining balance due on the day of the trip. Everything was clear, transparent, and well-organized.
I chose the Chogoria route for the ascent to Point Lenana and the Sirimon route for the descent. On the first morning, pick-up was arranged from the hotel in Nairobi, followed by a 3–4 hour drive to the park gate, including a stop for a delicious local lunch. That is also where I met the entire team, simple, warm, wonderful people who supported and cared for everything throughout the five days.
The first night was spent in the hut, and the following three nights in tents. The food was absolutely delicious, abundant, well cooked, and served three times a day. It was far beyond what I expected on a mountain expedition.
This experience with Equatorial Star Adventure is not about luxury; it’s about humanity, warmth, respect, and professionalism. Everything was clean and well taken care of. I highly recommend choosing the private toilet option; it makes a big difference in comfort.
Overall, I warmly recommend Equatorial Star Adventures to anyone considering Mt. Kenya. They made the journey safe, welcoming, and truly memorable.

Great experience - I had a great time trekking mount kenya in 5 days up the chogoria route and down the sirimon route. Altough we were not lucky with the weather (some rain at first and then wind), the team made sure I could hike safely and they provided all kinds of amenities. I got served plenty hot meals and drinkinhmg water throughout the tour. The tent was great as well. As a little treat, I got to witness the sunrise on Lenana Peak which was beautiful. Thanks to Duncan and his team for this experience!

Safe, Genuine, and Truly Memorable. - Trekking Mount Kenya with this company was an authentic and unforgettable experience. Everything was genuine — from the connection with the mountain to the way they involve the local community. The guides clearly love what they do, making the trip safe, comfortable, and full of great insights.
It’s also excellent value for money, and I really appreciated how directly they work with locals, which made the journey feel both personal and meaningful. If only tripadvisor had some kind of golden buzzer feature, then this would have been the trip to give it to!

Successful solo female traveler - As a solo female traveler I can say that I was slightly apprehensive going into this adventure. However, I was very well looked after. The team was great and I was supported the entire time. The food was great and plentiful, the route was incredible, and the views were amazing. I would easily recomend this adventure ans this company.

Mount Kenya Trek - Equitorial - Highly recommend Duncan and the team, myself and 4 were doing a fundraiser - Duncan a true humanitarian reduced his price in order to contribute to the cause. Excellent communication and organisation - amazing route as promised - and looked after us really well - great food and also had own private portable toilet for a little extra which I highly recommend - spectacular views - and we hired a camera man Ritho through Duncan - again highly recommended as took some beautiful shots stills/ videos . Ended with a superb safari which again was an amazing experience- great accommodation at enkorok - superb location for safari just on outskirts of national reserve and staff were extremely gracious and accommodating- if you’re looking for a great experience, at a competitive price and experienced accommodating guides - Highly recommended Duncan and the team
