Mombasa to Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary
Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary - Guests will be collected from their Mombasa hotel at 6:30 am. The journey typically takes about 5-6 hours. A brief stop for refreshments is scheduled around 8:30 am. The trip continues through Voi and Wundanyi towns, reaching the Taita Hills Game Sanctuary by approximately 11:00 am. This is an ideal time for a short game drive in this stunning sanctuary. Game drives here are relatively straightforward, with a high likelihood of seeing herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffes, various gazelles, and possibly one of the big cats.
After two hours, guests will check into the Taita Hills Lodge for lunch. The lodge is elegantly furnished and situated on a hill, offering beautiful views of the Taita Hills, from which it takes its name. Enjoy lunch followed by a relaxing time in the lounge. Later, the group will return to the sanctuary for another game drive en route to the Salt Lick Safari Lodge, where they will spend the night. Enjoy the underground observatory at Salt Lick before dinner and overnight stay.
Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary - Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary is a privately owned wildlife sanctuary in Kenya, located in Taita-Taveta County, approximately 220 kilometers from Mombasa. The sanctuary spans 28,000 acres (110 km²) and is adjacent to Tsavo West National Park and the LUMO Community Wildlife Sanctuary. It is home to Cape buffalo, African bush elephants, leopards, warthogs, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, zebras, hartebeests, impalas, waterbucks, Thomson’s gazelles, lesser kudus, Kirk’s dik-diks, and other smaller animals, along with a rich diversity of birdlife.
Taita Hills to Mombasa
Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary - Rise early for a cup of coffee before embarking on an early morning game drive. The focus will be on observing the early activities of the cats, as they prefer to hunt at this time. Guests will also enjoy the breathtaking rays of a Kenyan sunrise. The group will return to the lodge by 8:30 am for a full breakfast. Enjoy a mid-morning relaxation until 10:00 am, when the group departs the sanctuary. Lunch will be in Voi town, which is on the route back to Mombasa. The plan is to return to the Mombasa hotel before sunset.
