• Ketchikan - Upon arrival at Ketchikan on berths 1, 2, 3, or 4, the meeting point is at berth 2 beside the statue “The Rock”. If arriving at Ward Cove, a pickup will be arranged unless otherwise specified.
• Creek Street - This Historic Red Light District, where both men and salmon come to spawn, now hosts a variety of shops and attractions, offering numerous photo opportunities. Enjoy stories and insights into local culture, history, economy, and lifestyles as you journey from one site to another.
• Harris Street Bridge - At Harris Street Bridge, there is a chance to discuss the use of backgrounds and foregrounds. During the salmon spawning season, witness nature up close.
• Totem Heritage Center - This location features totems, native carvings, informative kiosks, ancient poles, and the chance to hear the legend of Fog Woman. Enjoy stories and insights into local culture, history, economy, and lifestyles as you journey from one site to another.
• Thomas Basin - Travel down East Street to overlook Thomas Basin and explore some of the last wooden dock structures in Ketchikan, Alaska. If the weather permits, there is an opportunity for a large landscape or whatever captures the imagination. Learn about commercial fishing and the town’s history while capturing favorite photos.
• Potlatch Totem Park - This site offers various attractions, including a totem carving building, a traditional Native Clan House, a dugout canoe, a gift shop, antique cars, and a Russian Museum. Enjoy stories and insights into local culture, history, economy, and lifestyles as you journey from one site to another. Savor fresh roasted coffee and a gourmet cookie at this location.
• Ketchikan - Make a final stop for another large landscape view of Danger Island and the airplane float. This marks the beginning of the tour’s conclusion, and gratitude is extended for joining the Ketchikan Photo Safari.
• Ketchikan - Enthusiasm is high to share all these locations, though the itinerary may change due to weather, lighting, and the group’s general interests.

Discover the art of capturing stunning photographs in the Ketchikan area, featuring historical, cultural, and natural attractions. Our tours provide both advanced and basic photography instruction tailored for cell phone, point-and-shoot, and DSLR camera users. Each tour follows a set route, visiting 5 to 8 distinct locations, each offering unique opportunities for photography and learning. While most of the photography techniques taught are applicable to cell phones, point-and-shoots, and DSLRs, some instructions are specifically designed for DSLR users.

Photography techniques covered for both DSLR and cell phone/point-and-shoot users include composition, subject identity, subject proximity, subject balance, exposure, cropping, angle of approach, light compensation, and macro photography.
