Perfect little excursion - Absolutely loved it, perfect amount of interaction, toddler and baby really enjoyed it. It wasn’t too much (factor the heat and humidity). Elephants were beautiful and well looked after. Would recommend

Half day trip to see elephants ethically - Really lovely trip, ethically managed and we were happy to see the rescued elephants. They weren’t forced to do anything and it was a non-touching trip where they walked with you if they wanted to but you also got to prepare some food to feed to them. Lots of informations and a friendly guide. Small groups and the timings of each part of the trip was well planned. Very happy that we chose this elephant sanctuary.
Turtle conservation visit and waterfall were also lovely and the great lunch at Waterside was delicious.

Just awesome, only word for this experience - We visited this venue as part of a day trip around Khao lak. It was the highlight of our day. First off we saw a 10 min video explaing the work of the centre. Then we went to the kitchens to prepare some food for the elephants and then we walked up the hill to feed them.banana rolls filled with vitamins, bananas and sugar cane. The animals are well care for, no sticks , or shackles just a close relationship with their individual mahout. After feeding we led the elephants to a pool where they enjoyed a good dip,on their own and we then escorted them back to their homes via a water hose station where we could help clear some of the mud off their skin. The guests and the elephants both had an enjoyable time.

Observe elephants with respect. - We went for a walk with one of the elephants who picked us out. Som bean did her thing, eating, bathing, sanding and walking on to find food. We were explained and allowed to ask questions. Som Boon, took us into her world. We felt honoured! Thank you for this wonderful experience.

Bucket list experience - We had the full morning here. We had Hans as our guide who was amazing and so knowledgeable. I think they are pushing it saying ethical! But completely understand about domestic elephants and the need for human contact. It was a bucket list experience for my daughter and I. Only us two in the group, we met all the elephants and then spent some time with one. Food was amazing. And we left with a photograph and some other bits. We also got sone gifts from the shop to bring home. Pick up and drop off from hotel was smooth.
One thing to improve. We booked in the uk and got no acknowledgement regarding the booking. I telephoned a few days before regarding pick up time. Was told a time. And then was emailed really late the night before with an earlier time. Due to jet lag etc I was up during the night otherwise would have missed the earlier collection time.
All in all all a lovely experience.

Absolutely brilliant. - The staff were very friendly and obviously cared for the elephants. We did the 1 hour tour which was brilliant. We did so much in an hour. Made food for the elephants, made Thai pancakes, and an inhaler. We fed 9 elephants and then washed 2 of them. They gave us one complimentary photo and any additional ones were very reasonable. We had 4 adults and 4 children aged 5-9 and they all loved it. We were picked up from our hotel and taken back within the cost. Couldn't recommend it highly enough.

Amazing Up Close Ethical Elephant Experience - Wow! Just come back from our early morning visit to the Khao Lak Elephant Sanctuary. We booked direct through their own website as we wanted all the money we paid to be of direct benefit to the sanctuary. Tony was our guide and told us all about the individual elephants there, and we had an amazing time walking with our elephant on her morning stroll through the jungle while we fed her (we were allowed to let her take food that had been prepared from our hands) and watched her. The up close experience whilst being respectful of her space allowed her to do what she wanted to do and behave naturally in her environment. It was an unforgettable experience!

Ethical it was not....don't bother or visit another one for better experience - This was a serious let down....for 1800 Bhats per person, you get to see 5 elephants that are supposedly free and part of an ethical conservation. However here are a few issues with it:
-They claim they operate a no feeding policy, however as soon as they take you to see the elephants, you are immediately given a bunch of bananas to feed the elephants (so much for no feeding policy) ...and they also operate a "prepare elephant food" classes
-They claim they operate a no swimming or riding policy, what they really mean is that customers don't get to swim with the elephants (which is good) but attendants actually do lead the elephants to the swimming pit and order them to do things like turn around, dip etc with every "tour" so the elephants are still essentially circus elephants with similar level of trauma.
There was nothing during the 1 hour tour you wouldn't have learnt from a youtube video, it was quiet frankly completely useless information wise
Overall, this was not the expected experience, as there are quiet a few cheaper elephant sanctuaries in Khao Lak and Krabi that we could have visited, but thought to "ethics wash" our conscience by visiting this, we shouldnt have bothered as it is just another elephant reserve with clever marketing. Don't be fooled by the "ethical" in front of the name - complete waste of money
