Extremely enjoyable experience. - Well organised with pleasant staff. Elephants were obviously well cared for and the information about each of them was interesting. Enjoyed the feeding and interaction. Would definitely recommend a visit.

An unforgettable experience! - Open App My location Khao Lak Ethical Elephant Sanctuary 77 ซอย น้ําตกสายรุ้ง Khuekkhak, Takua Pa District, Phang Nga 82220 Point of interest Nadine R. 538 points 23 hours ago We were here this morning and absolutely delighted with our stay there. We had booked the 2h tour. Picking up by taxi has already worked excellently and on time. There were only two of us in our tour. The extensive complex looks very well maintained, the elephants are in separate gates for feeding, so that they do not get stressed among themselves. However, you can always leave this area to the rear and move freely in nature. None of the animals were tethered or had ropes or chains! The respective Mahouts acted without plugs, but only by voice! After feeding, we walked short distances through nature on the grounds accompanied by an elephant. A tour led to a small river where the elephant went into the water quite relaxed and of its own will. We had the feeling at all times that none of the elephants were forced to do anything, everyone seemed very relaxed. We were able to observe extensively and were allowed to stroke briefly at appropriate moments. Even if we don’t speak extensive English ourselves, we could still understand the stories of our guide well. It was a beautiful and unforgettable experience and it is recommended for anyone who values animal welfare! The ladies there, who have had a difficult working life so far, can come to rest there and live a relaxed life. And we tourists are desperately needed to secure the care of these great animals who did not have a good life before. THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT EXPERIENCE!

Amazing experience - I had high hopes but this exceeded them. Sai was our guide and she was very friendly and knowledgeable about the elephants and was happy to answer any questions we had. It was incredible to be able to feed the elephants, but also go with them while they walk through the forest and watch them bathe in the river. The elephants seem to be treated really well here by the staff. Amazing experience

Amazing animals well looked after - The 2 hour tour was great. Spent a lot of time observing the ex-captive elephants and seeing how they were looked after. Various different environments including walking, feeding, drinking and bathing. Very informative and knowledgeable caretaker took us around and advised how they were looking after the elephants. Would advise strong mosquito repellent as you are in the forest!

Definitely worth a visit! - I am a huge elephant lover so thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our guide was lovely and informative, sharing loads of information about the elephants that live there and the work they’re doing. The small groups are so much better than being with lots of people and the format of the tour is great - you can really get up close to these amazing animals, whilst avoiding unethical behaviour. Highly recommend.

Nice to see Elephants up close and feed them and watch them bath. - Friendly staff.. seemed to treat Elephants well. Was very wet but they lent us unbrellas. Toilets on site. Walked about 200 metres with Elephants to the creek to see them bath. Was able to ask questions before, during and after the tour. We had a tour guide talking to us while another tour guide was for the elephant giving it directions where to walk.

- The experience seeing and feeding the elephants was amazing, we loved it. The elephants are well cared for and appeared content to us. My only comment on the tour was it was not made clear to us that we needed to pay 90% of the tour cost in cash at the sanctuary, before the tour began. We booked our tour online, entered our credit card details and thought nothing more of it. As we did not have cash on us and internet was apparently unreliable, we eventually reached a compromise to pay the balance by PayPal. This could have been avoided, just charge 100% of the cost when at the time of booking.
