Very nice boat trip with snorkeling and visits to the Surin Islands - We booked this somewhat expensive but very nice and professionally conducted day trip to the Surin Islands via Khao Lak Land Discovery. The actual boat trip was carried out by another renowned company.
After a very early pick-up at the hotel in Khao Lak about 5am you were on time for sunrise at the pier in Khao Lak, had to check in there, there was a quick breakfast and the first information about the day trip in our local language in German.
After about an hour it started. They went barefoot on the speedboat catamaran. The crew and tour guides introduced themselves.
There was mind. 2 rounds of snorkeling on great reefs, as well as 2 shore excursions, once at the See-Nomaden village and a beach and bathing stop on the neighboring island with additional late lunch buffet. On board were constantly soft drinks and water, as well as fresh fruit or cookies.
Highlights on this island were the wild animals such as monkeys, birds or warblers.
In the See-Nomaden-Village and during the bathing stop, things and souvenirs could also be bought if necessary.
The snorkeling equipment was provided. The crew and guides were nice and friendly and happy to help. So this trip was a great successful experience.
After the return journey, we stopped briefly at the pier where we could change our clothes and use the toilet facilities again if necessary before being taken back to the hotels.
Except for getting up early, it was a great day.

Super Surin snorkel - The pick up from the hotel was on time and very comfortable. We started the day with lots of other people doing the same thing, despite this everything was very well organised. We had breakfast, were assigned to groups and had an introductory talk from our tour leader Num/Jessica/beautiful girl/Pocahontas princess. The trip was amazing, far better than we had envisaged. All the snorkelling stops were well organised, very good and you were given enough time at each to explore. The sea gypsey village was good too with a wealth of information and an insight into their culture and adaptation to life living on the land. Lunch was really nice too, cannot fault the day and ten stars to our tour guide who was fantastic.

Superb company to snorkel with! - JayJay and her colleagues were so helpful. Smoothest and safest snorkeling trip we've done yet inThailand. Flippers masks and pipes provided for everyone if needed, hot drink and snack very welcome after first snorkeling stop. Beautiful beach stop for lunch. Waters were so clear and sealife abundant! Also the best coral we've seen so far. Grey reef sharks seen. Cannot recommend enough.

Great day out with our Guide Noon - Well worth the early start to great snorkels and lunch on the beach. Smooth boat ride after breakfast on the dockside. Plenty of drinks well worth the money and Noon was super friendly.

if you love to snorkel this is for you - a long day, but worth it the snorkelling was very good, food good and plenty of cold drinks, friendly staff, the only minor down side and that is all it is:- tipping is a personal matter yet instead of giving people the relaxed choice they came around the catamaran in front of everyone with a tip box and went up to everyone individually, which I thought was wrong as some looked uncomfortable about it.

Way too crowded on the boat - Sadly not enjoyable.
The key reason a way too crowded boat. We were really crammed in rough boat trip over. Awful sore back Had to sit in a gap between two cushions.

It's not a real snorkling trip and an overloaded boat. - We booked this trip through our hotel as it was highly recommended and we were told a maximum of 30 people plus crew. We arrived at the port and spent about 1 hour waiting (breakfast was offered) while they sorted hundreds of people to allocate them into all of their boats. Eventually, we were loaded, and all given one size fits all very bulky full life jackets. And then 33 of us were instructed to sit on the bench seats, which would have been great if we had all fitted, The weather unfortunately wasn't great so it made for a very uncomfortable 1.5 hour boat trip. Obviously, the weather is out of the operators control, but if they had reduced the number of people on the baot, it would have made a world of difference to the experience. We arrived at Surin Island to the first of 2 snorkling swims, not the 3 advertised.
At this point, for me, it all went wrong. No life jacket, no snorkling. I have been lucky enough to have dived and snorkeld some of the best spots around the world, and snorkling with a life jacket is not snorkling it's floating. For inexperienced swimmers, I appreciate this could still be enjoyable . We were floating in an exposed site, so with life jackets on a lot of people were getting blown away from the boat, which has no form of tender on board in case they had to perform a rescue. Visibility was good, but unfortunately, a very average float around not a lot of coral or fish varieties. Island visit with lunch was good, second island stop for tourists shopping was interesting then our second float around different spot but unfortunately more of the same. Interestingly, now that the life jackets were wet, we didn't have to wear them on the ride home, which actually created a lot more space.
