- Ekali - Ekali is a village situated on the slopes of Penteli Mountain, established in 1922 following the principles of English garden cities. Today, Ekali is home to many of the nation’s influential business and shipping families, politicians, and artists.
- Marathon Lake - Lake Marathon, or the Marathon Reservoir, is a water supply reservoir created by the construction of the Marathon Dam at the confluence of the Charadros and Varnavas Torrents near the town of Marathon. It served as the main water supply for Athens from 1931 to 1959. The dam is globally unique due to its external cladding of white Pentelikon marble, the same marble used in the construction of the Parthenon and other buildings on the Acropolis. The first stop will be at the lake, where visitors can enjoy an early Greek coffee at a lovely café overlooking Marathon Lake, take in the scenery, and capture beautiful photos.
- Marathon Tomb - Upon reaching the town of Marathon, the tour will visit the site of the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC, where the Athenian army (9,000 soldiers) triumphed over the Persians (500,000 soldiers). The Tomb of the 192 Athenians was erected near the battlefield, serving as a reminder of the sacrifice of those patriots for a free country. The battle’s outcome was significant not only for Greece but for the rest of Europe. The name of the long-distance race, the ‘MARATHON,’ originates from the legend of Pheidippides, a Greek runner sent from Marathon to Athens to announce the Athenian victory over the Persians. After delivering his message “NENIKIKAMEN” (meaning “We have won”), he collapsed and died from exhaustion.
- Archaeological Museum of Marathon - The tour continues with a visit to the Marathon Museum. Located in a picturesque rural setting near the renowned tumulus (grave mound) of Marathon, the museum displays artifacts spanning from the Prehistoric to the Late Roman era, primarily from excavated sites, mainly cemeteries, in the region.
- Temple of Artemis - Traveling south through vineyards and olive groves, the tour arrives at the Temple of Artemis in Vravrona. Artemis, the goddess protector of hunters, animals, and safe childbirth, was angered by the killing of two small female bears. To avenge this, she caused an epidemic among the Athenians. They eventually appeased the goddess by sending all their maidens aged 5 to 10 to serve her at the temple and participate in the events held there.
- Temple of Poseidon - The Temple of Poseidon is perched atop a hill at the meeting point of the Saronic Sea and the Aegean Sea. Dedicated to Poseidon, the god of the sea, sailors would offer a final sacrifice here to appease him before venturing beyond the safety of the Saronic Gulf. According to Greek mythology, Cape Sounion is where King Aegeus of Greece leapt to his death, mistakenly believing his son had died. This ancient tragic tale features a theme still prevalent in modern storytelling.
- Lagonisi - On the return journey to Athens, visitors can savor traditional Greek cuisine at a local tavern with a sea view.
- Lake Vouliagmeni - A brief stop for photos will be made at Vouliagmeni Lake. The lagoon formed around 2,000 years ago, originally a large cavern that collapsed following an earthquake. The outline of the collapsed cavern roof is clearly visible from a distance. The lake boasts unique environmental conditions: it is fed with warm seawater (28-35ºCelsius) through an underground channel extending through a network of submerged caves, maintaining a temperature that never falls below 18 °C (typically ranging from 21-24 °C), while a freshwater spring reduces its salinity to brackish levels (14.5-18 psu). Due to its consistently warm water temperature and rich hydrogen sulfide content, the lake has functioned as a spa since the late 19th century.
- Avenue of Poseidon (Poseidonos) - On the way back to the accommodation, travelers can enjoy the southern suburbs of Athens, such as Glyfada, Alimos, and Old Faliron. These areas are undeniably among the most upscale in Attica. Additionally, travelers have the opportunity to observe the Attica coastline, dotted with private and public marinas, shops, and cafes.
