Gorilla Trek
Volcanoes National Park - Gorilla treks occur in the morning, departing from the Park Headquarters at approximately 7:30 am.
Before departure, park staff will brief you, assign a gorilla family to visit, and provide rangers to guide you.
The treks take place on the slopes of the Virunga Volcanoes, and participants should be in good physical condition as some parts of the trek can be challenging.
The trek usually begins in the cultivated land at the base of the volcanoes, then guides lead you into the stunning, dense, misty forests.
The trek typically lasts between 2 and 5 hours, depending on the location of the gorilla family, with a maximum of eight visitors allowed per gorilla family.
Upon reaching the gorillas, you are allowed to spend one hour observing them. The minimum age for gorilla trekking in Rwanda is 16 years.
After this incredible experience, you will trek down the Volcanoes and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, followed by the return journey to your drop-off location within Kigali.
