City Tour of Kigali and drive to Volcanoes National Park
Kigali - After breakfast, embark on a city tour of Kigali, visiting the genocide memorial site, the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Center. The Kigali Memorial serves as a permanent tribute to those who lost their lives in the 1994 genocide. Here, you can explore the three permanent exhibitions, the largest of which documents the genocide and honors the victims. Following the city tour, enjoy a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park (approximately 2.5 hours total journey time). Upon arrival at Volcanoes National Park, home to the majestic mountain gorillas, visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, located just outside the park, to learn about Dr. Fossey’s pioneering conservation work and the ongoing efforts of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund. Relax over dinner and overnight.
Ultimate Gorilla Trek in Volcanoes National Park
Volcanoes National Park - Start the day with an early breakfast, then head to the Volcanoes National Park offices by 7:00 AM. You’ll be assigned to a gorilla tracking group and receive a comprehensive briefing from expert trackers. Next, drive to the trailhead and embark on your thrilling trek. Once you encounter the majestic gorillas, spend a magical hour observing these incredible creatures up close. Return to the base, where your driver will be waiting to transport you back to your lodge for lunch and a massage. In the afternoon, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village (formerly known as the Ex-Poacher’s Village), where you’ll gain insight into traditional Rwandan practices, including fire-making, archery, medicine, and vibrant cultural dances.
Drive to Kigali – Departure to Entebbe Approx 2.5 hours
Entebbe - Enjoy a relaxed breakfast before checking out. Transfer to Kigali and proceed to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight to Entebbe on ET 334, with drop-off scheduled for 1300 hrs. Upon arrival, you will be met by your private guide and transferred to Kampala.
Day visit to Equator
Equator Entebbe - After breakfast, transfer to the Equator line in Uganda, a popular tourist attraction located in Kayabwe, Mpigi District. Visitors can stand with one foot in the Northern Hemisphere and the other in the Southern Hemisphere, marking a unique experience. This is a common stop for those traveling to or from western Uganda, offering a chance to take memorable photos and experience the Equator. Have lunch at the Equator line and return to Kampala.
Full Day Entebbe Eco Tour
Entebbe Botanic Gardens - After breakfast, transfer to Entebbe Botanical Gardens, which border the shore of Lake Victoria and are home to an impressive collection of indigenous forest, shrubs, and plants. The gardens also host tree squirrels and velvet and black-and-white colobus monkeys. Visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre, often mistaken for a zoo, but actually an animal orphanage that houses wild animals which have been rehabilitated but cannot be returned to the wild. It’s a great place to see some rare and endangered species like black rhino, giant forest hog, chimpanzees, grey-cheeked mangabeys, lions, shoebills, and servals.
End the day with a sunset cruise on Lake Victoria, starting at 5 pm from Entebbe at the waterfront club beach by the zoo (UWEC), at the pier. Board with drinks and snacks and sail leisurely, viewing Entebbe, fishing villages built on the rocks, birds, and the boat goes up to the Equator sign.
