Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest NP

Kigezi - The company driver will pick you up from your hotel and drive you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The trip takes approximately 8 hours, including a stop for lunch. Although lengthy, the drive offers a picturesque route through varied landscapes, such as tropical rainforests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi, often called the Switzerland of East Africa.

Gorilla Trekking: An Incredible Experience

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park - Following an early morning breakfast, the group departs with a picnic lunch for a brief drive to the park offices, where local guides and trackers provide a briefing on gorilla trekking etiquette. The hike begins in the forest at the last known location of the gorillas. The terrain is rugged and muddy, requiring good physical fitness. Despite the challenging hike, the forest’s beauty and surrounding scenery make it worthwhile. It’s important to bring plenty of water for the trek. Cameras and high-speed film are recommended. As it is a tropical rainforest, rain can occur unexpectedly, so waterproof clothing, including zip-lock bags for cameras and film, is essential. Other recommended items include sturdy hiking boots, long pants, gloves, and a raincoat. The maximum time allowed with the gorillas is one hour.

Return to Kampala

Igongo Cultural Centre - After breakfast, embark on the long drive back to Entebbe/Kampala, cherishing the memories of encounters with the rare mountain gorillas. Enjoy lunch along the way and make stops at the equator line and the Igongo Cultural Center. Arrival at Entebbe International Airport is expected late in the evening.
