Exceeded Expectations! - A group of dear friends and neighbors attended a wedding in Ireland, with a few days to spare in County Donegal. From the first inquiry, Henry was responsive, friendly, customized our tour to our interests and schedule, and made our group feel right at home. The night before our tour, when we had an unexpected glitch in our ground transportation, Henry responded to our last minute SOS and got us all sorted, so that we didn't miss a beat - and he did it with grace. The day of our tour with Henry was just magical, we were blessed with wonderful Irish weather - all the seasons, in all the glorious beauty! Through sun, clouds, mist and bluster, Henry was an entertaining guide, remarkably informative about history, flora and fauna, and even told us an old Irish legend - on demand, nonetheless. He patiently provided tips about family genealogy, as well. Thank you, Henry, you exceeded our expectations, got us to the ferry on time, and helped us prepare for our four days of wedding celebration! I could go on and on, but will leave it to some of my fellow travelers, and share a picture or two. Sending a great big thank you!

My Ancestry Research Vacation - My husband and I traveled to Letterkenny in June for a vacation and some ancestral history research. This is the second time I have had the pleasure of having Henry Doohan as my Donegal Tour Guide. We did the private custom day tours visiting Sliabh Liag Cliffs, Glencomcille, Donegal Town, Inishowen Peninsula, Londonderry, Ramelton, Fort Dunree, Glenveigh Castle, Ballyliffin Golf Course, Monreagh Heritage Centre for a Scots-Irish Festival, Newmills Corn and Flax Mill and various towns and cemeteries associated with my ancestors. Henry is very personable. My husband and I were very impressed with his knowledge of history of the area. He went the extra mile planning things for us to do which were related to my ancestry research. I highly recommend Henry and I will definitely hire him as my tour guide the next time I visit County Donegal.

Sliabh Liag and Glencolmcille Beautiful Scenery and an Outstanding Tour Guide -Henry Doohan - Henry Doohan picked us up at our hotel in Letterkenny, Donegal and we were off to explore Sliabh Liag and Glencolmcille. The scenery is absolutely astounding, Henry is knowledgeable not only about the history of the area but the geology of the area as well. Some hikers take the arduous path from the bottom to the summit of Sliabh Liagh. The cliffs are among the highest in all Europe! Henry was able, by special permission, to take us to the park adjacent to the peak of the Sliabh Liag Cliff where the view is the best. We went on from there to Glencolmcille, Folk Village. Henry told us all about the founding of the folk village. After the famine many young villagers left the village to find work elsewhere or to emigrate to the US or Australia. Fr. James McDyer was born in Glenties and saw how decimated the village was and the sadness of the people who were left behind. He determined to revitalize the village and he did with the help of the villagers . Glencolmcille is a living history village. The original village houses have all been restored and authentic furniture and tools. Each house has a guided tour. There is a tea room where you can enjoy an excellent meal. The whole day's experience was excellent because of the knowledge of the area that Henry shared with us.

Beautiful day in Donegal - Our family had a wonderful day of touring Donegal with Henry. After being picked up at our hotel, the seven of us were taken on a beautiful adventure, including tracking down our grandparents house Henry is knowledgeable, excellent driver. and was able to time every stop for optimal enjoyment. Within minutes of getting into his beautiful car he knew all seven of our names and figured out the relationships. He was able to draw everyone in to the experience. We could not recommend spending a day with Henry any higher. He is simply the best. Thank you Henry for a fabulous day that we will never forget.

Highlights included Sliab Liag, the Famine Village of Doagh, Muckros Head, Grianan of Aileach and the Crolly Distillery - Truly enjoyed our two day tour through the Inoshowen peninsula.
Henry was an excellent guide and driver. He is thoughtful, knowledgeable and humorous. What more can you ask for?

A wonderful tour - My family and I had so much fun with Henry as we traveled around beautiful Donegal! He's knowledgeable, hilarious, and an excellent driver. We saw so many beautiful sites and Henry adjusted the schedule based on the weather so we were able to make the most of the sunshine. Thanks for a great trip, Henry! Hope to see you on our next trip over.

The emerald standard for Donegal - It's grand when the tour comes to an end and you are happy, because it was such an marvelous experience, and sad, because you don't want it to be over. I so enjoyed every kilometer and every bit of conversation. Henry is what I would craft in the making of a tour guide: deep knowledge of the land, wry humor, a storyteller / chronicler / narrator / poet.

Family trip exploring as much of Ireland as we could - We were looking to explore Donegal on our own utilizing two rental cars for our group in hopes of saving some money on that part of the trip. We came across Donegal Tour Guide and reached out to Henry. After a brief conversation, we decided to book three days with Henry. This was easily the best experience of our time in Ireland… Not that the remaining days of our trip were anything short of spectacular. Henry was timely in communication prior to arriving and helped us feel comfortable with what our plans were.
On day one, once the group was in the van, Henry made sure he had an itinerary that checked everyone’s list. He helped coordinate the time and place for our son to propose to his now fiancée… the top of Sliabh Liag cliffs. He provided historical stories and great conversation while escorting us through his beautiful country. We would never been able to experience Ireland in this immersive way on our own, let alone find some of the places we went with Henry.
We hope to return to Ireland again and see parts that we did it have the time to really get to. We will definitely book time with Donegal Tour Guide when we come back.
We can not thank Henry enough for the service, professionalism and genuine kindness he showed our family. It truly was impactful and a lifelong memory

The best tour guide Ireland has to offer! - Where to start...communication with the company is great! I was able to either talk to or email Henry and receive an immediate reply. He was able to answer all my questions to help my group to prepare for a great day. We were a group of 6 on a cruise around Ireland. We were picked up promptly at the appointed time at the cruise port in a very clean Mercedes SUV. Once introductions were made we were off on a journey across Donegal with an extremely knowledgeable person that really loves his home. Henry is a plethora of information. He driving was wonderful. We went to so many wonderful places, all of which he could give a story to. I can not say enough positive about the service he provided and the tour he gave. What I can say is the next time I am in Ireland I will definitely reach out for his services again. If you want to learn about Ireland in comfort and enjoy the day you should try this tour.
