SO GOOD!!! (Will be coming back) - I really enjoyed this class. It was very hands on and the piece is definitely your own. You can choose the shape of both the handle and blade, they have many prototypes if you need some inspo but if you come with a plan of what you want they can be very flexible with that as well. It is such a great momento of my trip because it's both practical and beautiful, they also wrap it up so easy to transport. I completed this workshop on my last day of Hanoi but wish I did it sooner as they also provided me with recommendations of where to eat etc. I am definitely coming back with my sister next year.

Fantastic Experience with Knowledgeable Guide and Skilled Knifesmith - Fantastic Experience with Knowledgeable Guide and Skilled Knifesmith I had an excellent experience from start to finish. Nick, our friendly and knowledgeable guide, welcomed me warmly and spoke excellent English. I was invited into the home, offered delicious homemade refreshments, and given a fascinating overview of the history and craft of knife making. The entire process was explained clearly and thoroughly, making it easy to follow and appreciate the craftsmanship involved. The knifesmith was highly skilled and patient, and I learned so much during the session. Transportation was seamless, with a private car provided to and from my hotel. As a memorable bonus, I got to keep the knife I made as a souvenir. I highly recommend this experience—it's informative, hands-on, and genuinely enjoyable. A must-try!

Amazing experience. Would recommend - This was an amazing experience. The tour guide had excellent English and even provided recommendations for other things to do on the rest of my trip! Throughout the experience he told me about the history of the Knife Making village and about the blacksmith. They allowed me to choose my own knife shape, and asked questions to make sure it was to my preference. The blacksmith fixed any mistakes I made and made sure I approved on each step to ensure I was happy. I’d recommend this experience to anyone visiting Hanoi, this has been my favorite activity so far. The blacksmith is a very nice lady and gave me jack fruit to eat when I left because I was the only person who booked!

Fun, fascinating, rewarding….highly recommended. - Absolutely fabulous….great fun, interesting, hands-on and rewarding. In an out of the way blacksmiths workshop I found myself carving my soon to be knife’s handle from white cedar, attaching the collar between handle and blade….then came the forging and shaping of the steel, hammering and grinding, refining all the way. Excellent explanations every step of the way and such a buzz to see it take shape, literally!! Couldn’t recommend this wonderful experience more highly….with a terrific guide and amazing LADY blacksmith!! Every time I use my knife when home in Australia, I shall remember this day with a smile!

Incredible hands-on experience - This was an amazing experience! We bought one ticket because we only wanted to make one knife. Everything was hands-on from selecting knife design, carving the handle, forging the steel, shaping and sharpening the knife. The experience was excellent. The history of the knife making village was great and you are making the knife in the artisans home that was built above the workshop. I definitely recommend!

An Unforgettable hands-on experience - This was an amazing experience! We bought one ticket because we only wanted to make one knife. I wish Viator machetes this activity more. The only reason we found out was because we have Nick, the tour guide, on another activity.

A great fun class! - The class was great fun and very hands-on! I went through all the steps in selecting the design of the knife and forging, hammering, grinding, honing and sharpening the knife. The artisan is certified, very skilled, very patient with beginners and supportive. Nick was a great guide and I really enjoyed the time chatting with him for his Vietnam insights (thanks Nick!). I was able to purchase a few extra knives to complete my kitchen collection. I have a very unique souvenir to take home with me from Vietnam.
