- Đa Sỹ - This village, famous for its blacksmithing craft, boasts a rich history spanning several centuries. Once a key supplier of weapons during the Vietnam wars, the village now produces agricultural tools, preserving its forging heritage.
In this interactive class, participants will engage in the detailed process of knife crafting:
Design: Start by drawing the outline of the blade on a metal sheet, selected for its strength.
Forging: With the use of a hammer, cutter, and anvil, cut out the blade and tang (the section that fits into the handle) and place them into the glowing coals.
Shaping: Work alongside the maker to shape the blade. Any flaws are then corrected using a hydraulic cutting machine.
Sharpening: The blade is then honed on a grindstone. This involves multiple stages, including immersing the blade in a unique tar-based chemical solution, a closely-guarded family secret.

Unique and special - Such a unique and fun experience! It was so special and intimate as we are allowed into their family workshop where they have been producing knives using the traditional methods for generations, and we get to make our own knives under their expert guidance - truely one of a kind! Highly recommend

Top experience - It was a rainy day so we decided to attend a workshop. We chose to make our own knife and what an experience. This is a unique experience with very welcoming people, not being afraid to make mistakes that straightens them out. You've got a crazy souvenir right away!

Razor sharp workshop at the warm Mao family, highly recommended! - We visited the Mao family to make our own knife. Every step was clearly explained, we had to do everything ourselves and where necessary they helped. The end result, a very nice workshop with a beautiful knife as the end result. Very nice workshop and warmly recommended, for everyone!

Great experience - Everything went great. Tee is a very friendly guide and speaks multiple languages.
Would definitely recommend this activity to everyone. At the end of the day, you get an unique knife you can take with you home as a souvenir and enjoy your cooking experiences.

So much fun making own knife in Hanoi - We had such a great time at the knife-making class in hanoi! The experience was fun and well organized. My knife turned out amazing — beautiful and sharp! I’d definitely recommend this workshop to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience.

Knife in the making - Must do experience if you are into creating useful stuff! The artisans are very passionate with their art and they stand by your side always eager to help you out on what to do! Don’t miss that one especially if you want to bring a sharp knife back home!
