It was such an amazing... - It was such an amazing experience. We had such a surreal experience with our driver/guide wi. He was so knowledgeable and knew a lot about the culture and encouraged us to ask questions. So big shout out to him. Overall the tour is truely unique, it’s very spiritual and educational too but be aware that it should not be viewed with children as there are various aspects that may be graphic. But overall a really amazing experience thank you to wi

Wonderful tour; friendly, insightful guide for an amazing experience - This was an absolutely fantastic experience. Our guide was extremely respectful, professional & fun. He made sure we had an amazing experience. I am very grateful for all the interesting facts about the village he told us, as well as providing information along the way. The cemetery was very confronting & a sad experience. This is one of the best tours i have done in Bali & is mostly thanks to our guide for making it so.

A cultural eye opening experience with a safe feeling - Such a great tour! It was a little more expensive than the advertised price as there were only 2 of us and paying in US dollars. Approximately $140 Aus each. Wayans english is really good and he took the time to explain so much to us, our group of 2, and was extremely flexible and made us feel very safe and looked after. I learnt so much about culture and the way of life, and now have a great understanding. We booked our tour about 8:30 pm the night before and received a phone call about 10 minutes after booking to confirm our tour the next morning, being a Saturday. Wayan arrived at our hotel dressed in traditional clothing about 15 minutes early, and as we were both ready early, we were off for the day. It was approximately a 3 hour drive from Kuta to the boat port to catch the boat to skull island and along the way, we made some stops to see interesting things in villages, that were thoroughly explained to us. When we arrived on the island, Wayan shared personal experiences regarding healing and religion and by the time we were ready to enter the temple on the island, we were aware of all the do's and don'ts and the why's. The temple and cemetery themselves had a very serene but non emotional vibe and for me, this was due to understanding the beliefs and customs of skull island. Despite being touching distance away from those in the cemetery, who are placed on top of the Bunyan tree root, there was no odour whatsoever, which was quite amazing. We were able to take our time and stay for as long as we wanted to. We didn't visit the village on the island due to some unsafe experiences Wayan has previously had there, and this was explained to us when we didn't stop there. After visiting skull island, we were taken to a restaurant on-top of the mountain that had spectacular views. Lunch was a buffet style with traditional and western food and included tea and coffee, however other drinks needed to be purchased and we're a little pricey. The buffet lunch, tea and coffee was included in our tour cost, but other drinks were at a cost to us. Having previously visited the coffee places, we discussed other things to see. The waterfalls weren't good at the time we visited, and expressing interest in traditional living, Wayan took us to a traditional house in Ubud where there is a family living, that they have opened their house to tourists. This was extremely interesting with Wayan again explaining in detail traditional and current customs of Bali housing along with the seperate rooms, or little buildings that make up a home. I was amazed to learn that there is a sign on the front of each home, or property detailing the residents living there, which is a family, and that there are markers on the ground either side of the entrance to the honeymoon, or also described as the parents bedroom, showing the same as the sign at the front of the home. We arrived back at our hotel about 12 hours later after being stuck in a couple of hours of peak hour traffic. Wayan was a fantastic guide, with good English who was horse from all the explanations given to us by the end of the day. Wayan is a very good driver and I felt extremely safe, being in his care the entire day. Highly recommended and a highlight of my trip.

A must do for the dark tourist - Our trip to Trunyan was terrific. Our guide was with Widana and he was AMAZING! We had a 3 hr trip from Legian but it went so fast. Widana was very informative (and funny) and his English is very good. He told us lots of cultural information as well as interesting facts about some of the villages we saw along the way. Trunyan was a very interesting experience and not one you can do in other countries. It is quite small but exactly what we expected. Important for tourists to note you should wear modest clothing and women who are menstruating cannot enter to respect the culture. The view for lunch of the volcanoes was also breathe taking. I do this tour everytime I come to Bali and it’s well worth it for the ‘dark tourist’

A beautiful, thought provoking adventure that you will never forget! - This tour was the highlight of my trip to Bali, the one I tell all my friends about. Trunyan Village Cemetery is fascinating enough in itself, but our tour guide, Wayan, really made the trip exceptional. Wayan had such a bright personality (especially for it being so early in the morning!) and he was so kind and knowledgeable. He answered every question that we had in detail, I learned so much about Balinese culture through speaking with him. He was prompt and on time, and I felt extremely safe during the entirety of the trip. We were able to take everything at our own pace. Wayan was genuinely excited to take us to Trunyan Village and his passion for the subject was palpable. He was also a fantastic and enthusiastic photographer! This excursion was very well organized and I enjoyed my time immensely. We added on the Mount Batur jeep ride which was so much fun. (My husband and I are bigger people and we were very comfortable in the jeep, there was plenty of space.) If you’re considering this tour… do it! It is a beautiful, thought provoking adventure that you will never forget.

Balinese adventure - A wonderful exploration of so many parts of Bali. We began with the jeep sunrise tour, with lovely hotsprings afterwards, followed by a trip to skull island with a fascinating cemetery, as seen on Atlas Obscura. We also squeezed in the Penglipuran Village and a trip to the luwak coffee roasters. Widana was a kind & humourous guide who was pleasure to tour with :)

Wayan is a very friendly & knowledgeable guide and told us many stories of Balinese culture. Trunyan itself was a place of mystery & magic and Wayan took great care in ensuring we understood the customs involved in visiting. Can highly recommend 🤩
