- Kitakata Kura no Sato - Founded in 1993, Kitakata Kura no Sato serves as a hub for preserving the cultural tradition of constructing kura (traditional warehouses) and magariya (L-shaped houses), which are significant elements of the Kitakata area’s lifestyle heritage.
Within this 4,500 square-meter site, ten traditional-style buildings are present. These include a mise-gura (a kura used as a shop), a miso-gura (kura for storing miso paste), a kokumotsu-gura (a kura for grain storage), and a kura-zashiki (a kura used as a residence), along with the homes of local officials (Go-gashira and Kimoiri) built around a courtyard.
- Kitakata Ramen Museum & Shrine - The Kitakata Ramen Museum, dedicated to all things ramen, is now complete! Accompanying the museum is a ramen shrine, showcasing the history and story of Kitakata Ramen. At the shrine’s center is a large ramen bowl where visitors can pray for good fortune in love! Visit the shrine to discover if Kitakata Ramen will bring romance your way!
- Yamatogawa Sake Brewery Northern Climate Museum - Established in 1790, this historic sake brewery shop displays various sake-making tools in the oldest warehouse, “Edo Warehouse,” constructed during the Edo period. Visitors can observe part of the traditional sake-making process. The on-site shop features a sake tasting corner where over 10 varieties of Yauemon rice wine can be sampled for free. Enjoy tasting and purchasing sake crafted from selected local ingredients for local consumption.
- Shingu Kumano Shrine Nagatoko - Constructed in 1055, the Nagatoko is the worship hall of Shingu Kumano Shrine, translating to “long floor.” It is recognized as a Nationally Important Cultural Asset. Built as the main structure from the Heian to Kamakura periods, its thatched roof is supported by 44 large pillars, each 45 cm in diameter. This creates a single expansive, open stage without walls, historically used for ascetic training by priests and kagura dance festivals.
Within a nearby large wooden frame is the shrine bell, which visitors are invited to strike with a wooden rod. Additionally, there is a renowned copper pot, reportedly used for rinsing rice before offering it to the gods; it was designated as an Important Cultural Property in 1959. This treasure, along with many others, is displayed at the shrine, featuring national and prefectural designated cultural assets.
