Great experience - Great value for money, helped by the fact entry to Knossos and the archaeological museum in Herakleion was free. Guide was great and the coach really comfortable

Interesting and free time... - Interesting and free time in Heraklion. Guide very knowledgeable, pickup on time, slight delay on departure as some guests failed to show, driver waited 15 minutes for them.

Great trip to Knossos and Heraklion city centre - Very good trip, picked up from hotel and taken to Knossos. Ear pieces worked well and we got lots of really interesting information whilst being guided round the site.
The second part was the same bus to Heraklion city centre where the guide gave us some quick tips and showed us around which took about 10 minutes and then we were left to explore ourselves.
Very good value for money and would recommend this trip to friends and family.

Still pulling the crowds after 6 centuries… - It pays to book a knowledgeable guide and start your tour early because this place pulls in crowds willing to sacrifice valuable beach/pool time to the Minotaur. Our tour day was still a test of endurance due to the sultry weather and full sun, but very enjoyable. This should be combined with a visit to archaeological museum, I feel, because many of the authenticity artefacts are actually stored there, leaving you to only view replicas in situ. Don’t dare forget your sunscreen, hat, sun hat and curiosity.

Nice tour of the ruins and short tour of the town - Tour was done in two languages. Tours should be single language only. Tour guide handled both languages well but it took away from the tour. Tour started early in the morning so crowds weren’t bad. The tour used “whispers” so it made it easier to here the guide

Interesting but frustrating tour. - We purchased the admission with the self guided tour. The site is a very interesting site but the self guided tour was not current. The directions on the self guided tour were out of date. The information in the guide was very helpful, but when the directions get you mixed up and spend time looking for the next stop was frustrating. A map would help..

Good for the price - At the Palace it can get very busy,so be prepared to do a lot of standing around.
There are shaded areas if you get to hot.
Go to the toilet before you start as the queue is very long when you finish.
You have plenty of time in the city to have lunch and have a wonder round, there is plenty of restaurants, cafes
Ice cream shops. Little ticket shops and you can go to the marina.

Can improve - The Palace of Knossos is an impressive historical site full of history. The place itself is fascinating, with its ruins and mythological Mood that transports to another time. It is a must for anyone interested in Minoan civilization.
However, we were a little disappointed by the guided tour. It was advertised as mixed English/French but in reality, the majority of explanations were given in English, with a very succinct and sometimes awkward or even incorrect translation into French. This has hindered overall comprehension and immersion, especially for those who are not proficient in English.
Such a rich place deserves a guided tour of equal quality in all the languages on offer. I hope that efforts will be made in the future to improve translation and provide a more inclusive experience for all visitors.
