An Outstanding, Superlative, Amazing Guide! - I was in the group of 4 couples including Q2059RHmartam who wrote a comprehensive review, which I agree entirely and enthusiastically with...Apostolis is a stellar guide...probably the best we've had in all our travels. But I wanted to add in a few of my thoughts. I have booked many private guides in many countries, but my experience with Apostolis was flawless. When I reached out to him initially, he responded immediately with firm quotes and suggestions on how to fill our 3 days in Crete and his suggestions were simply outstanding...some were things I would have not considered unless he suggested them. He suggested that certain things could be done "on our own" and guided us to choose things that he was going to add value to like the Battle of Crete tour, which we never thought of doing but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip to Greece. He responded promptly to all my many questions and comments during booking with grace and timeliness and apologized if he was leading a tour and could not get back to me until later. He had a straightforward payment process. He seemed to "know people" to get us into good restaurants and where to park and how to get from here to there in an expeditious manner. And when my husband had problems walking, he managed to get special permission to drive onto a beach so that he didn't have to walk as far. These were all things that, as the trip planner for this trip, were so important to me. Book a tour with Apostolis...you will be thrilled as all 8 of us were!

A fantastic tour! - I booked a small private, guided tour from Chania to Knossos and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum with Proper Cretan tours. Apostolis was a fantastic guide, a true historian and archaeologist who offered tons of information and insight into Knossos and the related artifacts at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum. Our family had a great time with him and especially enjoyed the flexibility and intimacy of a private tour. We were able to ask all our questions and get many more tidbits and anecdotes about Greek and Cretan history. Apostolis was a fun and entertaining host for our day, I’d highly recommend him to anybody considering a tour from Chania. I researched the options heavily, and found other operators’ big tours to be plagued with delays and poor planning. Our trip was very well-planned: we went early, beating all the crowds, and waited in no lines, as I was given guidance to pre-book all our tickets. I researched heavily and other private options from Chania only included transportation, but no guide. It would be impossible to understand Knossos without a tour guide. Proper Cretan Tours combined private transportation with a licensed tour guide for a great price (could not find anything else even close) and it was worth every penny. Hope to take another tour with Apostolis when I’m back on Crete!

Amazing Tour! - Apostolis was an amazing tour guide! He is a licensed tour guide with a degree in history as he demonstrated with his extensive knowledge of Greece. He also taught us about present day Greece. Many other so-called guides are actually drivers with only some knowledge of Greece. Apostolis stands out among the rest. We took two tours with Apostolis to Elafonisi Beach and Knossos. Apostolis adjusted the tours to accommodate our needs and assisted us every step of the way, which was critical because our son is in a wheelchair. In addition to the main attractions, Apostolis took us through villages and Heraklion and made a stop at Aptera Koule (castle), which was very well preserved and had great views. Also, he recommended excellent restaurants for lunch.
