Book this immediately! - We had the most incredible time! This tour absolutely exceeded expectations and it was all due to our tour guide Reiko! She gave us so much information that we otherwise wouldn’t have known and even printed pamphlets for us to take home with specific details about sake and the fermentation process. She translated live for us during the tour inside of the brewery and made us feel so at ease and comfortable. The Kobe beef lunch was absolutely divine! We loved getting to sit and speak with her more to learn about Japanese culture and ultimately felt like we made a new friend. We truly cherished our time all together and cannot express how perfect this experience was! Thank you Reiko for a wonderful day in Kobe!

Kobe - more than just beef! - While you might have come for the beef, the hidden secret is that Kobe is home to 80% of the sake production! We were greeted warmly as we got off the train and headed straight into learning about sake production and were fortunate to be able to go on a tour of the barrel making facility. Truly incredible to see the craftsmanship and smell the cedar. No better way to get you prepared for the sake tasting. Hidden gem is the ice cream, which as absolutely delicious. Our next stop was a tour of the Ikuta shrine, where we were fortunately to receive a full history lesson from our guide, Chie. She was filled with knowledge and was able to clearly explain Japanese history and culture dating back from 200 through present day. She articulated rise and fall of various periods and people within Japanese history. Based on her expertise we actually didn’t enter the shrine immediately as we needed to make our Kobe lunch reservation. Of course, the Kobe beef lunch did not disappoint! We left satiated and beyond happy. We then headed back to the Ikuta Shrine and were able to appreciate the shrine which was founded in the 3rd Century by the Empress Jingu. She was returning from a campaign in Korea when a goddess of the rising sun asked to be enshrined. The temple was founded and thus started nearly two millennia of Buddhist and Shinto tradition. Pretty incredible!! Highlight was my son getting a special fortune that got Chie and others around us excited based on its uniqueness.

A unique amazing experience - Since it was 10 o’clock and on a weekday I was alone with the guide Take. Perfect for me and for him. I really got value for the time of 4h. Short walk to the sake factory and Take showed me the exhibition and which Saké we should try. Very nice and I bought some in the store. Late short metro ride to Kobe city center for visit to a fantastic restaurant with Kobe meat as a specialty. We sat in the dish with our own chef who prepared the meat to the chosen cooking temperature. Take also showed me a nearby shrine and told me about Japanese religion etc. I can really recommend doing this tour!

A fantastic immersive tour in Kobe - This was truly the highlight of our trip to Japan! Our guide, Che, had an infectious optimism and joy to share her extensive knowledge of the area. A history teacher, she really knew her “stuff.” Everything in our itinerary was well-planned. The three highlights were the saki barrel making visit, the sake “brewery” highlighting its traditional methods and history of the beverage and, of course, the Kobe beef lunch.

Excellent in both Kobe Beef and Sake - We expected either the Sake tour or Beef tasting to very good and were very happy with both were top tier. My wife said the steak was the best food we had on our trip and the Sake tour was amazing and shows you so much about the craft. Highly recommend Mari, she was a great and entertaining host for the day
