Komani Lake - The journey is truly beyond words; the alpine scenery is breathtaking, and the turquoise waters are astonishing. Occasionally, you can see small cottages and farms, highlighting the diverse lifestyles that still thrive in Europe’s hidden corners. The Lake Koman ferry embodies the essence of slow travel – allowing you to relax and watch the landscape transform as you glide along the lake. It’s truly enchanting.

Valbona Valley National Park - With its striking, rugged peaks and wooded valleys, glacial springs, and waterfalls, it’s a paradise for both people and wildlife. Besides its floral variety, Valbonë Valley is home to numerous animals, including brown bears, lynx, chamois, grey wolves, wild goats, and a multitude of bird species.

Trek through the Accursed Mountains in the Albanian Alps

Valbona - Theth - Hiking Trail - Breakfast will be served early at the guesthouse to ensure a good start for the 6-hour hike from Valbona to Theth. But don’t worry, after 3 hours, the peak will be reached, where lunch will be enjoyed (carried up by us, but prepared by the guesthouse). After lunch, the hike descends to Theth for 3 hours. Upon arrival in Theth, a local guesthouse will welcome you with traditional food after a long day.

Theth - The nearby waterfall, the ‘Blue Eye’ canyon, an old church, and the local museum (situated directly on a rock) are fascinating spots to explore on our 4th day. Dinner will be served at the guesthouse, and after dinner, stargazing will reveal falling stars and the Milky Way (which is incredibly bright due to the absence of city light pollution).

Journey to Shkoder

Theth - On the morning of Day 5, a jeep will take us back to Shkoder, arriving in Shkodra by noon.

Accursed Mountain Trek
The Albanian Alps serve as the premier destination for mountain tourism, featuring the National Parks of Thethi, Valbona, and the Kelmendi Region. The “Accursed Mountains” are breathtakingly beautiful and largely inaccessible, except for several high passes that connect the few farmsteads and homes in the valleys to the outside world during the summer.
