Massive strength and agility on display - Wow!!! This was such an amazing experience for my son and I. We were very impressed my the sheer strength of the wrestlers. While some of them were quite massive in size, others were taller, and a couple were even “regular” sized men. Watching them crash into each other again and again and again was quite something. We were amazed at how they could continue to take hit after hit without falling down. Observers could easily tell that they were working hard and that practice was meant to be taken seriously. But the most interesting thing we noticed was their agility. These massive men were incredibly agile, easily able to squat down on their resting position before each round. At the end, while we watched them do their stretching exercises, some of the men were able to down to the ground in full spilts!!! They could also easily stretch fully forward in that position. Amazing! These men are very athletic and it was a great experience and honor to be able to watch them practice.

Sumo Practice Experience - Masao-san was great and gave us a run-down of the sumo practice viewing etiquette. He was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The practice itself was entertaining, and the work the wrestlers put it in was impressive! It was a unique experience I am glad I got to see. Photography was allowed, as well as getting a photo with the wrestlers afterwards.

Wonderful Experience! Highly Recommended! - My father and I are sumo fans. Unfortunately, we were visiting Japan during a time with no tournament. So, I thought it would be a good idea to give this a try. In some ways, this was even better. Gritty, raw, in-your-face. And, unless you're shelling over big money for a ringside seat at a tournament, it's unlikely you’ll ever get this close to the action. Masao-san is a great guide and explained the rules to us. Please be respectful. These rikishi are training for their beya (school) and their livelihood, they're not there to entertain you. Please do your best to keep quiet, try not to move around too much, and be mindful of others around you enjoying the tour. It was quite an experience seeing the rikishi go through their practice. They all work very hard.   It does get a bit crowded in the seating area as there are other tour groups attending. The first people in are usually seated on the floor, while everyone else fills in the chairs afterward. Since my dad is older, he actually appreciated sitting in chairs.

Sumo wrestlers training - Enjoyed the experience of seeing Sumo wrestlers training in the stable. And the practices which are inculcated - cleaning, throwing salt for positive energy, exercises and the wrestling bouts.

Experience good but organization, not as expected. - I love the experience, but I was thrown off about having chairs. I thought we would be ringside. There were people seated in front of us and then all the chairs were on the same level so unless you stood up in the back, you really couldn’t see very well. There were four rows of chairs all on the same level and they were tall people in front of us. I think that should be made clear in the booking. Actually, when we entered, I was told I could sit anywhere and I chose to sit on the floor, but then the employees asked me to move. The experience was amazing itself. The sumo wrestlers are quite the athletes really amazing and mesmerizing. This particular tour did not get a photo of you in the ring with the wrestlers another tour did we got a picture with a few of them outside but I expected to have the picture in the ring That is no fault of the tour person, but that of the tour operator. Yes, when I emailed I was told the tour was limited to about 20 people . What I wasn’t told was there were a couple tours there at the same time so there were closer to 50 people there.
