Learn more about local way of life - This guided tour is absolutely necessary if you like to learn more about how the locals live. Hong Kong has unique historical, geographical, economic, and social characteristics. In 2 hours you can get a little insight into it. Our guide was knowledgeable, answered questions, and very pleasant. A must do

An essential tour for the thinking tourist. - What a fascinating couple of hours this was. Our guide, Simeone, was knowledgeable, engaged and ready to answer any question from our diverse group. While the tour took us to parts of Hong Kong that the tourist board would NOT have approved, this was never anything but respectful and educational. If you, like us, think travel should be more than sun tans and tourist traps, take this tour.

Insightful, knowing HK more than it’s Disneyland - Awesome sharing by Stephen Lau. It’s a walking tour that brings you to see the druggies, darker alleys, small homes, rough sleepers… I went with my 6yo daughter and we were able to see the opposite sides of HK- other than it being known for the land of diamonds/disneyland… knowing the disparity of truth in each country is insightful esp for our next generation. I esp love how we do not see rough sleepers as objects but also individuals who have a story so he often reminded us not to use our own lens/expectations, and not to take pictures of them openly like exhibits. Highly recommend!

Heart-breaking but a must-have experience - Eye-opening experience. We went with our 16 year old and we all agreed that it was a hard visit but very much worth it. Thanks Grace for the enriching tour.

This is also reality in Hong Kong. - An interesting tour which showed us a completely different side of life in Hong Kong. Instead of all the luxury, this is also reality in this huge city. Our tour guide Simeone Lo showed us the 'dark' side of living and working in Hong Kong and answered all our questions. Thank you!

Dark side - Simeone is the best and this was a great informative tour of the dark side of Hong Kong. Got to see the actual cage beds and coffin beds and got some herbal tea

Meaningful Experience - Had a meaningful tour with Isaac as the tour guide. He was able to answer the questions the tour members had, injected humour where appropriate and expressed his views respectfully especially when speaking of poverty and government policies. This is not my first time visiting Hong Kong as a tourist. I appreciated going on this tour to see a different side of the city.

The Hong Kong cafe homes tour - A fantastic tour that shows a Hong Kong that is usually not visible to tourists. At no point could it be called poverty tourism, it was reality tourism at its best. An eye opener, with a great guide called 'Wind', (I kid you not, thats what she's called, but then Chinese names are flexible!) Its the kind of tour I will take my children to give a perspective of life without being preachy.

Informative - A really good overview of the housing situation and options in HK. While it was an extremely hot day the bulk of the stops were in air conditioning making this tolerable.

Excellent guide but content below expectations - Our guide Summer was amazing - friendly, knowledgeable, engaging and very passionate. It was valuable to learn about the issues HK residents are facing. However, in my opinion, the tour was lacking in content. For example, the only subdivided flat we visited was a staged display unit, not a real one, and the rest was just walking around the neighbourhood and trying some tea (which felt like a time filler). I understand it’s tricky to visit the real homes, but I believe more has to be shown on this tour.
