- Krakow - The tour commences with transportation from Krakow, either from the specified hotel or a chosen meeting point. The Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum is situated in Oswiecim, roughly 1 hour and 15 minutes away (65 km). All drivers are certified for passenger transport within the EU. A friendly, English-speaking group leader will accompany you, offering assistance as needed. Upon reaching Oswiecim, there will be a short break to enjoy a coffee or explore the outdoor exhibits. Subsequently, you will meet your local, professional guide, officially licensed by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.
- Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau - The tour begins by entering the gate of Auschwitz I, the initial camp, originally established as a concentration camp for Polish citizens detained after Germany’s annexation in 1939. You will pass beneath the notorious sign “Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work Makes You Free). This segment of the tour typically lasts two hours, during which a headset is provided for clear communication with your guide. The group size is capped at 30 people, in accordance with the Museum’s guidelines, ensuring a comfortable and accessible experience for everyone. Discover the original wooden barracks, fortified walls, barbed wire fences, gas chambers, and crematoria, which collectively leave a haunting impression and help visitors comprehend the vast scale of the Holocaust.
- Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau - After visiting the first camp, there will be a brief break of up to 15 minutes. Following this, the tour proceeds to Birkenau (Auschwitz II), located just 3 minutes away. Birkenau, the largest camp, was constructed and operated with the intent of making Europe “Judenrein” (free of Jews). Your guide will continue the compelling narrative at Birkenau, situated in the village of Brzezinka. Built in 1941 under the orders of SS commander Heinrich Himmler, the camp could accommodate approximately 90,000 prisoners. You will hear poignant accounts of the harsh living conditions, the cruel selection process, and the pseudo-scientific medical experiments conducted by Nazi doctors, including Josef Mengele. The tour concludes with the story of liberation when soldiers from the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front opened the gates of Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, leaving you with a profound understanding that such genocide should never have occurred—and must never happen again.
- Wieliczka - In the latter part of the day, you will be transferred to the Wieliczka Salt Mine, one of the oldest operational salt mines in the world. Before the Salt Mine Experience, there will be about a 1-hour break for coffee, groceries, or simply to rest.
- Wieliczka Salt Mine - The Wieliczka Salt Mine is one of the oldest operational salt mines globally, having produced salt for over 700 years. You will join an English-guided tour at 4 pm or 5 pm (depending on road conditions). Your guide will lead you up to 140 meters underground for a 2.5-hour journey along a 2.5-km tourist route filled with chambers featuring stunning salt carvings and statues.
- Krakow - At the end of the tour, after another 40 minutes of travel, you will be returned to Krakow.
