The Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum is situated in Oswiecim, approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes away (65 km). All drivers we collaborate with possess the necessary EU permissions for passenger transport. An English-speaking and friendly group leader will be available to assist whenever needed. Upon arrival in Oswiecim, take a brief break to enjoy a coffee or explore the outdoor exhibitions. You will then be warmly introduced to your local, professional guide, who is licensed by the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum.
- Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau - Begin your tour by entering the first camp, Auschwitz I, initially designed as a concentration camp for Polish citizens detained after Germany annexed the country in 1939. The entrance features the iconic sign “Arbeit Macht Frei” (Work Makes You Free). This section typically lasts 2 hours, and you will use a headset to clearly hear your guide. The group size, as per the Museum’s regulations, is limited to 30 people, ensuring a comfortable and accessible experience for all participants. Explore the original wooden buildings, fortified walls, barbed wires, gas chambers, and crematoria, which leave a profound impression, helping to comprehend the scale of the Holocaust.
- Panstwowe Muzeum Auschwitz-Birkenau - After a short break of up to 15 minutes following the first camp, you will be transported to the second part of the tour, Birkenau (Auschwitz II), just 3 minutes away. This is the largest camp, constructed and operated to make Europe “Judenrein” (free of Jews). The same guide will continue with a moving lecture about the camp in the village of Brzezinka (Birkenau), built in 1941 under the orders of Heinrich Himmler (SS commander), with a capacity for approximately 90,000 prisoners. You will hear harrowing stories of the appalling living conditions, cruel selections, and pseudo-scientific medical experiments conducted by notorious Nazi doctors, including Josef Mengele. The tour concludes with the story of the 60th Army of the First Ukrainian Front soldiers who liberated Auschwitz on January 27, 1945, leaving you with the conviction that such genocide should never have occurred and must never happen again.
- Krakow - After the tour, the driver will return you to your hotel or specified address in Krakow.
