From Port to Paradise: A Day of Sun and Sea in Bonaire
When a planned beach day on Klein Island fell through, I turned to a local beach shuttle service in Kralendijk, Bonaire. What followed was a delightful day at The Mirage Beach Resort, complete with sun, sea, and unexpected luxury.
A Serendipitous Start
As a former professional surfer, I’ve always had a knack for finding the best beaches, but this time, I decided to let someone else do the driving. I was in Kralendijk, Bonaire, and had heard about a round-trip beach shuttle service that promised to whisk you away to some of the island’s most stunning beaches. With my partner by my side, we were ready for a day of sun, sand, and sea.
Our driver, Resine Kourid, greeted us with a warm smile and a sign with my name on it. It felt like a private tour, just for us. We had initially planned to visit Te Amo Beach, known for its sandy entrance and vibrant marine life. However, Resine had other ideas. She suggested The Mirage Beach Resort at Eagle Beach, despite its rocky entrance, promising a more comfortable experience with amenities like restrooms and chairs. Trusting her local expertise, we decided to go with her recommendation.
A Day at The Mirage
Arriving at The Mirage Beach Resort, we were welcomed with open arms. For a mere $10 per person, we secured a day pass that granted us access to chairs, the pool, bar, restaurant, and even a pier for easy water access. As we set up our spot, an attendant offered us a cabana bed at no extra charge. It was the perfect setup for a day of relaxation.
The sun was shining, the drinks were flowing, and the Dutch lunch was a delightful surprise. We spent the day alternating between lounging in the sun and taking refreshing dips in the water. The rocky entrance was a minor inconvenience compared to the overall experience. The resort’s amenities made it easy to enjoy the day without a care in the world.
A Scenic Return
As the day wound down, Resine was waiting for us at the resort entrance, just as promised. On our way back to the port, she took us on a scenic drive, pointing out other beaches and local restaurants. It was a lovely way to end the day, with the sun setting over the Caribbean Sea.
This beach shuttle service turned out to be more than just transportation; it was an adventure in itself. With Resine’s friendly guidance and the unexpected luxury of The Mirage Beach Resort, our day in Bonaire was nothing short of magical. If you’re ever in Kralendijk, I highly recommend this beach shuttle for a carefree day of island exploration.
