Best teacher and delicious food - This cooking class was the first thing we did when we arrived in Cambodia, and it was by far the best start to our trip we could have wished for! We went to a local market with Samon, which was a unique experience that was enhanced by being with a local, afterwards we went to Samons beautiful countryside home, collected herbs from the garden and started cooking after being welcomed with homemade fresh tea. Samon was so kind and explained everything really well, we learned so much about the Khmer cuisine. We felt like we were at home and his family was so welcoming and friendly, and above all, you will have to do your best to find better food elsewhere in the country! Very strongly recommend!

Amazing experience! - Had a great experience! Learnt a lot about the local culture and got a full tour of the Asian market. The property where we were cooking was lovely and our guide was happy to answer all our questions and show us how to harvest herbs right from the garden! Definitely recommend!

Authentic Khmer Cooking Experience - Took the Kamandtour cooking class in Kampot early February 2025, and wow, it was an exceptional mix of food and culture. The place itself has this rustic charm of wooden benches, an open kitchen, super laid-back vibes. Felt like stepping into someone’s home, which made the whole hands-on experience even better.
The lead chef was a home cook that provided not only the understanding of how Cambodian food is prepared but the cultural and family significance. We cooked many classic Khmer dishes that included ingredients grown on the family property. The taste of the final dishes was just amazing.
The best part? The sourcing of the ingredients. The class included a full tour of the local market where most Kampot families shop. The market was authentic, colorful, and full of local fresh ingredients like fish caught the night before and vegetables from local farms. We were introduced to the vendors, learned their stories and while walking through the market could observe the locals haggle and purchase their daily fresh produce.
By the end, I’d picked up some legit cooking tricks and felt tied into the local community in a way I didn’t expect. If you’re in Kampot and even half into food, this class is a must. The market, the cooking, that family feelings made it a solid way to peek beyond the tourist bubble.

Most authentic Khmer cooking class - We just learned to cook the most delicious Khmer dishes in the most authentic Khmer environment and methods. We ate our Fish amok, Green curry pork ribs, Green mango & fish salad with a dessert of tapioca with coconut milk and bananas at the end and we couldn't stop eating because it was too delicious. We also really enjoyed that all transportation between our hotel, the market and Samon's house was by bicycle. Finally, Samon and his family are warm and welcoming people so this sums up to an absolutely amazing tour that we definitely recommend to anyone visiting Kampot.

Great cooking class - This tour was by far the best cooking tour we’ve done in Asia so far, such good value for money, and very hands on as well, so it feels very rewarding. The tour of the local market was eye opening and we tried lots of things we’ve never even heard of before. This was followed by a short ride to where the cooking class would take place, which is nestled in the countryside and very picturesque. All together we cooked four dishes; Amok curry, Green curry, Luc Lac, and a banana dessert. We were showed every step of the cooking process, from pounding up our own curry paste to stir frying everything together. We were taught the flavours each ingredient adds, which was enlightening. The tour guide is very lovely, spoke brilliant English and did everything to make our experience great. Couldn’t recommend enough, we had the best time!!
