Banteay Srei - Begin with a hotel pick-up and transfer to Banteay Srei, renowned for its exquisite carvings in warm pink sandstone. This late 10th-century temple is compact and distinct from other Angkorian structures.
Banteay Samre - Continue to Banteay Samre, a larger temple often missed by tourists, yet stunning in appearance.
Neak Pean - Proceed to Neak Pean Temple, a small island temple situated in the center of the last baray (the Preah Khan Baray or Jayatataka) constructed by a Khmer king in the Angkor region. The central temple is positioned at the axis of a cross or lotus pattern of eight pools.
Preah Khan - Next, explore Preah Khan Temple, a vast and intriguing monastic complex. Originally a Buddhist monastery and school, it housed over 1000 monks. On the return journey to Siem Reap, pass through charming villages, offering opportunities for rural photography.
Angkor Thom City & Ta Prohm and Sunrise at Angkor Wat
Angkor Wat - Begin with a 4:50 AM hotel pick-up and transfer to Angkor Wat, initially a Hindu, later a Buddhist, temple complex in Cambodia, and the largest religious monument globally. Constructed by Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yasodharapura (present-day Angkor), the capital of the Khmer Empire, it served as his state temple and eventual mausoleum. Unlike previous kings who followed Shaivism, Angkor Wat was dedicated to Vishnu. As the best-preserved temple at the site, it has remained a significant religious center since its inception. The temple epitomizes the high classical style of Khmer architecture and is a symbol of Cambodia, featured on its national flag.
Angkor Thom South Gate - Visit the south gate of Angkor Thom. On the left side of the moat, 54 ‘devas’ (guardian gods) pull the head of the snake ‘Shesha,’ while on the right side, 54 ‘asuras’ (demon gods) pull the snake’s tail in the opposite direction.
Bayon Temple - Explore Bayon Temple, where over 200 large faces carved on 54 towers give it a majestic character. The bas-reliefs depict everyday life scenes—markets, fishing, festivals with cockfights and jugglers—and historical scenes with battles and processions.
Baphuon Temple - Visit Baphuon, constructed in the mid-11th century (1060) by King Udayadityavarman II, dedicated to Shiva (Hindu).
Phimeanakas - Visit Phimeanakas, built in the late 10th century to early 11th century by King Jayavarman V and Udayadityavarman I, dedicated to Hinduism.
Terrace of the Elephants - Observe numerous elephant images on the wall.
Terrace of the Leper King - This location served as a private hospital for the royal family.
Ta Prohm Temple - Finally, visit Ta Prohm, which exudes a romantic aura. Fig, banyan, and kapok trees spread their massive roots over stones, separating walls and terraces, while their branches and leaves intertwine to form a canopy over the structures. Tree trunks twist among stone pillars.
Roluos Group, Tonle Sap Lake & City Tour
Preah Ko - Begin with a pick-up and transfer to Preah Ko, built in the late ninth century (879) for the king’s parents, maternal grandparents, and a previous king, Jayavarman II, and his wife, reflecting the Preah Ko style of art.
Prasat Bakong - Then, visit Bakong, constructed in the late ninth century (881) by King Indravarman I, dedicated to Shiva (Hindu).
Kompong Phluk - Next, head to Kompong Phluk village, where numerous stilt houses offer a stunning view of mangrove trees growing in the lake.
Artisans Angkor - Return to town and visit Les Artisans D’Angkor, a fine art school and workshop for wood and stone carving, lacquering, silver plating, silk painting, and the old market area.
