Angkor Thom South Gate - After obtaining a ticket at the counter, begin exploring the remarkable Angkor Thom, Bayon group. The South Gate of Angkor Thom features a bridge adorned with statues of gods and demons. Two rows of figures hold the body of a seven-headed Naga. It is one of the most spectacular entrances among the five gates of Angkor Thom.

Bayon Temple - The Bayon is a beautifully decorated Khmer temple located in Angkor, Cambodia. Constructed in the late 12th or early 13th century as the state temple of the Mahayana Buddhist King Jayavarman VII, the Bayon is situated at the heart of Jayavarman’s capital, Angkor Thom.

Baphuon Temple - Baphuon Temple is situated in the ancient city of Angkor Thom and was built in the mid-11th century. It is a three-tiered temple mountain constructed as the capital of King Udayadityavarman II and dedicated to the supreme god Shiva. It is the original example of the Baphuon style, with intricate carvings covering every surface. The temple connects to the southern enclosure of the royal palace, measuring approximately 120 meters east-west by 100 meters north-south at its base, and stands 34 meters tall without its tower, which would have made it about 50 meters tall. Spend valuable time exploring the magnificent mountain temple of Baphuon before moving on to another temple.

Terrace of the Leper King - The Terrace of the Leper King was constructed in the Bayon style under Jayavarman VII. Its modern name comes from a 15th-century sculpture found at the site, depicting the Hindu god Yama, the god of death. The statue was named the “Leper King” due to discoloration and moss growth reminiscent of leprosy, and it aligns with a Cambodian legend of an Angkorian king, Yasovarman I, who had leprosy. However, Cambodians refer to him as Dharmaraja, as inscribed at the base of the original statue.

Terrace of the Elephants - The Terrace of the Elephants is part of the walled city of Angkor Thom, a ruined temple complex in Cambodia. The terrace was used by Angkor’s king Jayavarman VII as a platform to view his victorious returning army. It was connected to the palace of Phimeanakas, of which only a few ruins remain.

Ta Prohm - Ta Prohm is the modern name of a temple at Angkor, Siem Reap Province, Cambodia, built in the Bayon style primarily in the late 12th and early 13th centuries. Originally called Rajavihara, it later became known as the Tomb Raider temple due to the Hollywood movie filmed there.

Angkor Wat - Angkor Wat is the iconic symbol of Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world. The temple embodies the spirit of Cambodia and Hinduism, constructed in 1113. It is a must-visit temple for all travelers.

Preah Khan - Preah Khan is a temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII to honor his father. It is located northeast of Angkor Thom and just west of the Jayatataka baray, with which it was associated. It served as the center of a substantial organization, with nearly 100,000 officials and servants.

Neak Pean - Neak Pean at Angkor, Cambodia, is an artificial island with a Buddhist temple on a circular island in Jayatataka Baray, associated with Preah Khan temple, built during the reign of King Jayavarman VII. It is the “Mebon” of the Preah Khan baray.

Ta Som - Ta Som is a small temple at Angkor, Cambodia, constructed at the end of the 12th century for King Jayavarman VII. It is located northeast of Angkor Thom and just east of Neak Pean. The King dedicated the temple to his father Dharanindravarman II, who was King of the Khmer Empire from 1150 to 1160.

Pre Rup - Pre Rup is a Hindu temple at Angkor, Cambodia, built as the state temple of Khmer king Rajendravarman and dedicated in 961 or early 962. It is a temple mountain constructed with a combination of brick, laterite, and sandstone. The temple’s name is a relatively modern one meaning “turn the body.”

Eastern Mebon - The East Mebon is a 10th-century temple at Angkor, Cambodia. Built during the reign of King Rajendravarman, it stands on what was once an artificial island at the center of the now dry East Baray reservoir. The East Mebon was dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and honors the king’s parents.

Srah Srang - Srah Srang is a baray or reservoir at Angkor, Cambodia, located south of the East Baray and east of Banteay Kdei. It served as a Royal Bathing place for the king and queen during the great Khmer empire.
