- Ang Trapeng Thmor Reserve - After a 104 km drive, the tour arrives at Ang Trapaeng Thma Reserve, a 129 sq km protected forest in northwestern Cambodia. This unique wetland ecosystem was established to protect the rare eastern sarus crane and is home to over 200 bird species. Activities include swimming, boat rides, dining, and bird watching.
- Banteay Toap Temple - A further 70 km drive leads to Banteay Toap Temple. Banteay Toap (pronounced Tor-op) is an intriguing temple site. The name is believed to mean ‘Fortress of the Army’ and it was constructed during the same era as the Banteay Chhmar temple complex. It is thought to have been built in honor of the Khmer army’s victory over the Cham army, which led to Khmer control of the region.
- Banteay Chhmar - After an additional 30-minute drive, the tour reaches the Banteay Chhmar temple complex. Banteay Chhmar, along with its satellite shrines and reservoir (baray), is one of the most significant yet least understood archaeological complexes from Cambodia’s Angkor period. It is the fourth largest temple from the Angkorian period, following Preah Khan (in Kampong Svay), Angkor Thom, and Angkor Wat, which is the largest. The complex includes nine satellite temples.
