This site features a series of stone rock relief carvings in the sandstone formations of the riverbed and banks. It is famously known as the “Valley of a 1000 Lingams” or “The River of a Thousand Lingams.” Next, the tour proceeds to Banteay Srei, renowned for its pink sandstone and exquisite carvings in the galleries, showcasing intricate figures on lintels and frontages in a pink-style temple. Following this, the itinerary includes Preah Khan, constructed in the 12th century by King Jayavarman VII to honor his father. The site features ruined roofs and galleries intertwined with giant plants, and beautiful dancer sculptures adorning the straight pediments. Afterward, there is a relaxing one-hour lunch break.
The tour then heads to Neak Pean, an artificial island with a Buddhist temple on a circular island in Jayatataka Baray, known for its sacred medical ponds used for healing, bathing, and cleansing with blossomed lotus ponds surrounding the central tower. The journey continues to Ta Som, where the main structure of the gopura is carved with four faces in the Bayon style. The eastern outer gopura is uniquely overgrown by a sacred fig tree, which has grown through the blocks and into the ground. Additionally, the tour visits the Kravan monument, featuring brick towers from the 9th century. Finally, the day concludes with a return to the hotel.
