During the third Ecumenical Council in 431 AD in Ephesus, it was claimed that Mary arrived in Ephesus with St. John in 37 A.D. and lived there until her passing in 48 A.D. Following the house’s discovery, the Archbishop of Izmir declared it a pilgrimage site in 1892. On July 26, 1967, Pope Paul VI visited and prayed there.
• Ancient City of Ephesus - A 10-minute drive to Ephesus will lead to one of Turkey’s main attractions. Ephesus, one of the 12 cities of the Ionian League (an ancient Greek district on Asia Minor’s western coast), is near Izmir. As a port city, it was a significant departure point for trade routes into Asia Minor. Guests can walk through history along marble streets lined with magnificent public buildings, including the Baths of Scholastica and the Library of Celsus, built in the early 2nd century A.D. by Gaius Julius Aquila as a memorial to his father, Gaius Julius Celsus Polemanus, the proconsul of the Province of Asia. The Temple of Hadrian and The Grand Theater are two of Ephesus’s most impressive structures. The Grand Theater, built in the 3rd century B.C., was later expanded by the Romans in the 1st century A.D. to accommodate 24,000 spectators.

• Sirince Koyu - After lunch, guests will drive to the charming old Turkish-Orthodox village of Sirince, located atop a mountain, where they can admire the beautiful vineyards and peach trees. The village offers a blend of Turkish-Greek culture, with visits to a mosque and an Orthodox church. The narrow village streets are filled with women selling various handicrafts and olive oil. Another attraction in Sirince is its wine, which can be sampled in small cafés.
• The Temple of Artemis - The final stop is the Temple of Artemis, once one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. After visiting the Temple of Artemis, guests will be driven to Kusadasi town center and the port.
• Kusadasi - Arrival at Kusadasi City Center. Guests will be dropped off at the Port of Kusadasi, the city center, or their hotel, marking the end of the services.
