• Klang - Klang, also known as Kelang, is officially recognized as the Royal City of Klang (Malay: Bandar Diraja Klang). It is a royal city and was once the capital of Selangor, Malaysia. Situated in the Klang District, it served as the civil capital of Selangor before Kuala Lumpur and the current capital, Shah Alam, rose to prominence. Port Klang, located in the Klang District, ranks as the 12th busiest transshipment and container port globally.

    Housed in a beautifully preserved colonial building designed by AB Hubback (who also designed many of Kuala Lumpur’s famous landmarks, including the railway station), this building served as government offices during both the colonial and post-independence periods and as a Japanese military headquarters during World War II.

It has recently been transformed into the Royal Gallery museum, showcasing the Royal Collections of the late Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz, including a variety of magnificent artifacts from his reign.

• Chennai Silk Palace - The former Chartered Bank building (now Chennai Silk Sarees)

Adjacent to the Royal Gallery is the former Chartered Bank building. This neoclassical structure, dating back to 1874, was the first bank established in Klang.

During World War II, the Japanese used the premises for interrogating and executing prisoners of war.

The building has been recently renovated and is now occupied by Chennai Silk, a retailer of saris, fabrics, and more.

• Istana Alam Shah - Royal Klang Club
  Continue the Klang Walking Tour along Jalan Istana past the Royal Klang Club to enjoy a view of the impressive Istana Alam Shah (a Royal palace of the Sultan of Selangor), which is situated on a 24-acre hilltop overlooking the town.

Istana Alam Shah is the official palace of the Sultan of Selangor, located in southern Klang, the royal town of Selangor, Malaysia.

Although the Sultan has two other official residences in Shah Alam and Putrajaya, most royal ceremonies (such as the coronation of a new Sultan) involving the Selangor royal family are held at Istana Alam Shah.

The palace features 15 rooms and was constructed using wood and marble. Extensive renovations were carried out by Sultan Salahuddin Shah in early 2000.

• Little India District - Little India (Tengku Kelana Street)

From here, retrace your steps and head towards the Little India District, centered around Jalan Tengku Kelana.

Klang has a significant Indian community, and the Little India district is vibrant and fascinating, filled with colorful shops selling saris, textiles, bangles, jewelry, food items, spices, flowers, and more. The pavement outside some shops is so clean and shiny that it feels like shoes should be removed before walking on it.

• Church of Our Lady of Lourdes Klang - Church of Our Lady of Lourdes

The Church of Our Lady of Lourdes (OLL) is located on Jalan Tengku Kelana, Klang, Malaysia. Built in 1928, the current parish priest is Rev Fr Jude Gregory Chan, assisted by Rev Fr Ferdinand Magimay. The church celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2008 after undergoing restoration and repainting. Additionally, a new four-story formation center, Wisma Lourdes, was added to accommodate the growing number of students and classes for Sunday School. Wisma Lourdes also houses the parochial house.

Klang Convent School

The school is located on Jalan Tengku Kelana, adjacent to the Church of Our Lady Of Lourdes. Established in 1924, it initially had only 19 students. The main school building was constructed between 1926 and 1928 and was inaugurated by Sir William Peel in 1928.

• Masjid India Klang - Tengku Kelana Indian Muslim Mosque

Masjid India Muslim Tengku Kelana Klang was built in 1910 for religious and community activities by the Indian-Muslim community in Klang and the surrounding area. The mosque is located on Jalan Tengku Kelana, a popular Indian shopping area. The original mosque building was demolished and replaced with a new structure in 1973. This building was also replaced with a large, modern two-story mosque to accommodate the growing number of worshippers. The mosque is now a landmark in Klang.

• The Sri Nagara Thendayuthapani Temple - Sri Nagara Thendayuthapani Temple

The Sri Nagara Thendayuthapani temple, over 150 years old, is managed by the Nagarathar or Nattukottai Chettiar community. The main deity or Murthi is Sree Raja Rajeswary, along with Ganesha and Murugan. Additionally, a Durgai Amman shrine is installed within the temple complex. As one of the oldest and wealthiest temples in Klang, this iconic temple is regarded as an important cultural and religious hub for the Hindus of Klang. This popular landmark is a significant destination for the faithful and hosts a wide range of cultural and religious functions, demonstrating its strong role in preserving Hindu culture and heritage.

• Little India District - Raja Abdullah Warehouse

Gedung Raja Abdullah, built around 1857, is likely the oldest surviving building in Klang, if not all of Selangor. This two-story heritage building was originally used as a warehouse (gedung means godown/warehouse) for Raja Abdullah, the first Malay tin-mining pioneer, who lived upstairs with his family while storing his tin ore and other goods on the ground floor.

Klang Fire Station

Continuing the Klang Walking Tour, you will pass a colonial-era Fire Station. This fine example of a Victorian fire station dates back to the 1890s. Although it has been adapted to accommodate modern firefighting appliances, it retains many of its original features.

At the end of the tour, you will be taken to the best Banana Leaf Rice Outlet in Klang before being transferred back to your hotel in Kuala Lumpur.

Mangrove Point is a social project initiative under the Selangor Maritime Gateway, located at Kawasan 14 near the Klang River mouth, covering approximately 70 acres on Selangor state land and Hutan Simpan Kekal. This project is a collaboration with Jabatan Perhutanan Negeri Selangor and is expected to become a new destination for eco-tourism and a public recreational area for locals and international visitors. Mangrove Point features a unique mangrove ecosystem with surrounding nature that promotes meditation, health, and well-being through a biophilic environment.

Visitors can begin their exploration at the designated Information Centre and continue their journey along approximately 1 km of boardwalk to observe the beauty of the mangrove environment and the diversity of flora and fauna.
