Great day - Amazing to see the work of the sanctuary and see the orang-utans being looked after so well. The santuary relies on guests so you are contributing with your visit. Rajan our guide was very knowledgeable about the area, history and then later we stopped at the caves. Great day

Orang Utah island day trip - Such a long journey from Kuala Lumpur but well worth it to see these beautiful rescued animals. It was interesting to hear how they have had some successful births that have been returned to the wild. The transport there was in a lovely vehicle that added to the comfort and the tour guide while new to the job made the tour, thank you

Great family day out - Driver was prompt and very knowledgeable. Orangutan island was small but was lovely to see the animals so close and interacting with the visitors albeit through the fence. The humans were in a caged walk way and the orangutan were loose on the island. The cave temple was spectacular, the painting inside was amazing. The clime to the top is hard work so beware.

Wonderful Orang Utans - The description of the tour was accurate but folks considering it should be fully aware that it will involve 8 long hours driving back and forth from KL. The actual time spent on the island was relatively short but very worth while. These animals are almost gone from the earth and we were very honored to have spent some time close to them. The center is focused on research, rehabilitation and support of these incredible creatures. They do not train the Orang Utans to perform for us tourists although they do offer a couple of examples of their intelligence. Unless you plan to go to Sumatra or Borneo this is the only game in town. The stop at Perak Tong cave was a nice bonus to break up the return trip. Wonderful wall paintings in a cave temple. Stairs to the top of the hill offer a good work out and nice views. Last caveat: we booked a couple of “tours” in KL. They were conducted by a driver with no licensed tour guide. One of ours did provide basic info about where we were going and what we saw. The other pretty much drove us to a stop, pointed to the entrance and indicated he’d wait for us in drop off area. Just be aware and read the description of any tour you’re considering so you’re aware of what you’re buying. All in all, we enjoyed the tours we booked.

A fun day trip from KL - This was a good day trip from KL, lasting about 9.5 hours round trip. The Oran utan island was enjoyable to see. Orang utans aren’t native to mainland Malaysia, and these are rescued from Borneo and rehabilitated. Of the 14 animals on the island, we were able to see 7 of them. We were the only two people on the island, so we got a private tour from the folks who work there. The lunch was pretty good (we asked for chicken rice, a local specialty). The cave temple was neat, and you are able to climb many stairs to the top to have an eagle eye view of Ipoh. Our driver was friendly but drove really quickly - which was appreciated given that we were tired but also a little concerning at times.

Lovely trip - The only reason I gave this trip four stars was because the car should have been more comfortable for such a long trip. Otherwise the experience was great. The driver was very kind and quite quiet. He stopped for convenient toilet and food breaks on our way to and back from our experience and he was a very patient man. The Orang Utan Island visit was an amazing experience. The experienced staff members explained how they were helping increase in numbers these majestic endangered species in their own habitat and it was great that we were walking in the long 200 metre cage rather than the other way. The Orang Utans appeared healthy happy and well taken care of before they were reintroduced to the jungles where they belonged. It was an important learning trip. The caves were also majestic and an enjoyable experience.

Make your own way. - Our driver Albinhar was lovely and friendly, on arrival to the island, we spent an extremely short time there and didn’t have a tour guide on the island but cool to see some orangutans. The temple was really good, nice view from the top. On a whole it was a lot of time in a car and minimal time at locations. Wouldn’t recommend the trip it’s self but would make my own way.

Long day trip - V long drive for a fairly short period with the orangutan. The orangutans were great, could have watched them for hours. No babies which was disappointing. Our driver/guide was great and took us to a couple of additional sites enroute, which made for a better experience.
