Semenggoh Rehabilitation Center serves as a provisional residence for Orang Utans that have been saved from captivity and young primates left orphaned. At the center, these animals are educated on how to adapt and survive in their wild environment. They are taught essential skills like foraging for food and constructing nests in trees. Several of the rehabilitated animals have been successfully reintroduced into the neighboring regions. Visitors can stroll along the pathways and watch semi-wild Orang Utans in their natural setting. The center also schedules feedings on a daily basis at the designated platform.
Our expedition will next take us to Matang Wildlife Centre situated in Kubah National Park. As the primary wildlife rehabilitation center in Sarawak, it provides care and treatment to a variety of rescued animals, including orangutans, sun bears, bear cats, civet cats, sambar deer, barking deer, porcupines, and crocodiles. Visitors can view these animals in expansive enclosures that mimic their natural habitat. Our visit will also allow for exploration of the center, including the large aviaries that are home to a range of hornbills, as well as brahminy kites and sea eagles.
