- Stone Forest - A 1.5-hour drive will take you to one of Yunnan’s most remarkable wonders, the Stone Forest in Shilin County. Over time, weather has shaped this vast karst labyrinth, creating the sensation of walking through a forest of ancient stone trees. Each rock formation tells its own poignant story or thrilling legend, shared by the local Sani people, a branch of the Yi ethnic minority, who have inhabited this area for generations. Visitors can still find them within the park, joyfully singing folk songs or crafting embroidery.
- Jiuxiang Scenic Region - Next, explore another natural masterpiece, the Jiuxiang Caves, part of China’s largest cave system. This enchanting area features rivers, gorges, waterfalls, forests, and natural stone bridges, resembling a fairyland. Enter the caves through a narrow green canyon and view the cave entrances hidden within the forests from above as you glide over in a cable car. Afterward, the driver will return you to downtown Kunming (approximately 1.5 hours) and drop you off at your hotel.

The stunning landscape of the Stone Forest Scenic Area was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2007. This destination is highly regarded both in China and internationally. Located approximately 90km east of Kunming, the Yunnan Stone Forest Park is a favored tourist destination. Despite its vast size, visitors can still discover less crowded and secluded spots, particularly during the sunny winter months. Navigate your way through the labyrinth of towering stone pillars! Following this, explore the Jiuxiang Scenic Region, situated in Jiuxiang Yi and Hui Autonomous Township of Yiliang County, just a 45-minute drive from the Stone Forest. This area is renowned for its karst caves (with about 100 in total, over 60 of which have been explored), as well as its mountains, rivers, deep valleys, and the unique customs and cultures of the local minorities.
