Kutaisi, Wine & Dine - Kutaisi
Kutaisi - The tour begins at 10 a.m. from the central square of Kutaisi. Here, the guide shares insights about the history of Georgia and Kutaisi. After capturing photos at the fountain, the group proceeds to the central park, home to the statue of the sister “Ishkhnelebi” and the “9 April” memorial. The tour continues past the Kutaisi city hall, Opera house, and “Mon Plasir” arch. The journey then leads past the first gymnasium to the white bridge, through the park of love, and to the Golden Marquee Palace. The next stop is the central grocery market, “Mtsvane Bazari.”
Kutaisi Historical Museum - This museum preserves the ancient heritage of Kutaisi and Georgia.
Bagrati Cathedral - After visiting the museum, the tour drives up to Bagrati Cathedral, which overlooks the city. Built in the 11th century, it symbolizes a united Georgia.
Gelati Monastery - The tour then moves to the 12th-century Gelati Monastery. The complex includes three large churches, an academy, the grave of David the Builder, a bell tower, and monks’ residences. It was constructed by the esteemed Georgian King David the Builder.
Motsameta Monastery - The next destination is Motsameta Monastery, associated with the story of the martyred brother lords David and Constantine Mkheidze. Perched on a cliff and surrounded by a river on three sides, the monastery is set amidst stunning natural beauty.
Baia’s Wine - By lunchtime, the tour visits the family winery “Baia’s Wine” in Bagdati municipality, village Obcha. Baia and her sister Gvantsa first show the vineyard located just behind their house. The tour then moves to the wine cellar to sample various wines, including “Tsolikouri,” “Krakhuna,” “Aladasturi,” “Ojaleshi,” “Otskhanuri Sapere,” and “Chacha.” The visit concludes with a feast of Georgian cuisine prepared by their mother, featuring the most delicious Imeretian dishes.
Kutaisi - Canyons & Cave - Kutaisi
Prometheus Cave - Prometheus Cave stretches 1.8 km and is situated 40 meters below sea level. It features a “hall of love” where couples even get married. Visitors can enjoy an underground boat ride, which is quite an exciting experience.
Martvili Canyon - After a delightful lunch, the tour heads to Martvili Canyon. Here, participants take a boat tour through the canyon, exploring its depths and waterfalls.
Okatse Canyon - The final attraction is Okatse Canyon, the deepest canyon in Georgia, featuring hanging bridges and skywalks. Visitors can reach the bridge by trekking a 3 km route or taking an off-roading taxi, which offers a thrilling adventure.
