This region, the Kolkheti lowlands, is steeped in legend. It is here that Jason and the Argonauts famously seized the golden fleece. The surrounding mountains are said to be where Prometheus was bound to a rock. This land is rich with tales of ancient warriors and remarkable historical events.
Bagrati Cathedral - At the Bagrati Cathedral, the stunning and distinctive beauty of Georgian architecture from a millennium ago can be admired firsthand.
Prometheus Cave Natural Monument - Explore the underworld of Colchis at Kumistavi, where the vibrant cave system of Colchis is revealed in all its splendor. A 1,700-meter walking path through the grottoes showcases stalactites, stalagmites, underground waterfalls, rivers, and a lake. The renowned Prometheus Cave (Amirani) evokes the legend of the mythological hero who defied the gods.
Martvili Canyon - Starting from the Martvili Canyon visitor center, a 700-meter stone-paved circular route follows the historical Dadiani trail. It features 2 bridges, 3 viewing platforms, and a historic 30-step staircase made from large limestone boulders. Visitors can enjoy a 300-meter boat ride on the Abasha River, taking in the stunning views of the mountain river canyon.
Patara Enguri River - The journey includes a visit to the picturesque Engurpes reservoir, nestled amidst the mountains.
Mestia - En route, there will be stops at a waterfall and other scenic spots. In the evening, there is free time to explore the streets of Mestia, home to many traditional cafes.
