• Amanohashidate - Recognized as one of Japan’s Three Scenic Views, Amanohashidate is a 3.6 km sandbar adorned with approximately 8,000 pine trees, resembling a celestial bridge. At Kasamatsu Park, viewing it upside down from between one’s legs reveals the enchanting sight of a dragon ascending to the heavens.
• Chion-ji Temple - This Zen temple is among Japan’s Three Great Monju Temples, dedicated to Monju Bosatsu, the bodhisattva of wisdom. It contains several Important Cultural Properties and is surrounded by about 5,000 pine trees. Its “Wisdom Rice Cakes” are a famous local delicacy.
• Kaisen Bridge - This unique rotating bridge connects Amanohashidate to the mainland, swinging open 90 degrees to allow sightseeing boats to pass. On Sundays, it rotates hourly even without boats, creating a picturesque scene that is popular with visitors.
• Amanohashidate Beach - Situated on the eastern side of the Amanohashidate sandbar, this white-sand beach, bordered by lush pines, attracts many summer visitors. Although the facilities are basic, swimming at this scenic beach provides a distinctive and unforgettable experience.
• Funaya - Approximately 230 distinctive wooden boathouses line the 5 km stretch along Ine Bay, with first floors connected to the sea for boat storage and second floors serving as living quarters. This fishing village, designated as an Important Preservation District, beautifully represents Japan’s traditional landscape.
