Perfect for groups and individuals (from 145cm!) looking for a unique perspective on the city, this e-bike tour explores the highlights of south and east Kyoto. We meet bright and early for a short orientation before heading south to enjoy the majestic Fushimi Inari Shrine before the crowds arrive. From here we will catch the splendour of Tofukuji…
Perfect for groups and individuals (from 145cm!) looking for a unique perspective on the city, this e-bike tour explores the highlights of south and east Kyoto. We meet bright and early for a short orientation before heading south to enjoy the majestic Fushimi Inari Shrine before the crowds arrive. From here we will catch the splendour of Tofukuji Temple before stopping for a morning coffee. The next part of our journey takes us up the Kamo river and over to the UNESCO listed Ginkakuji Temple. After Ginkakuji, we will roll slowly south down the iconic Path of Philosophy and into the grounds of Nanzenji Temple (complete with traditional gardens, ornate religious buildings and even a red brick aquaduct). After a sit down lunch (provided), the last leg of our journey takes us south along the Shirakawa Canal and through the streets of Gion before returning to base.

Summer cycling in Kyoto - Mayco was our guide for the day, and it was just Mathew, me and Mayco. We were taken to several very interesting sites, to a lovely coffee shop, and a delicious ramen restaurant for lunch. It was hot, but the pace was ok for us. Mayco was lovely, she was an interesting guide and gave us a really good insight into the temples and shrines and explained a lot about Japanese culture, geishas etc to us which was fascinating. We’d recommend this tour to anyone! Thanks Cycle Kyoto! 😊

Warm welcome tour to city of Kyoto - Amazing views, tasty treats on the way and very welcoming tour guide made our visit to Kyoto start with amazing adventure. Also got good tips for local restaurants and shops.

E-bike the maze of Kyoto with Juan-Sensei! - Juan was a delightful human being to spend the day with! Insightful, friendly, kind, full of relevant historical knowledge to help us understand the places we visited. He helped us stay safe and healthy with electrolyte tablets, water, and broth for lunch, all desperately needed in the heat and humidity! The tour was a balance of ancient and modern, for example following a historic temple setting with a visit to a contemporary, hip coffee shop. Highly recommend the e-bikes as a way to tour the labyrinth of Kyoto back streets. E-biking is definitely the way to see many sites of the city in a day, and to enjoy the Philosopher’s walk! Arigato gozaimasu, Juan and Cycle Kyoto! Five stars!!!!

One of the best bike tours ever- with a supeb guide Jay - One of the best city bike tours we have ever done (and we have done many!) Jay was a superb guide- and his knowledge of and passion for Kyoto came through all day. He was so willing to accommodate any request and to be guided by us as to what we wanted to do. He provided such a great insight into Japan in general and Kyoto in particular - we did so much that we ended up running an hour over schedule - but were delighted to have the extra time. Highly recommend this tour and Jay as a guide

Great way to discover Kyoto - I recently took this tour through the beautiful city of Kyoto, and I can't rave enough about this incredible experience! Our guide, Shawn, was truly amazing. His enthusiasm and knowledge about the area made the tour not only fun but also informative.
During our ride, we encountered a slight hiccup when Shawn's bike tire busted in the middle of the road. Instead of panicking, he calmly guided us to a cozy café nearby where we enjoyed some delicious coffee while he worked on fixing the tire. Talk about dedication to his group!
The tour itself was a fantastic blend of sights and experiences. My teenage son, who usually gets bored easily, was completely captivated. He loved exploring the back roads of Kyoto, discovering hidden gems, and even spotting a Geisha along the way! The variety of scenery kept him engaged and excited throughout the whole journey.
I wholeheartedly recommend this e-bike tour to anyone, it is a unique way to explore Kyoto. Hands down, it was the best experience we've had in the city. Thank you, Shawn, for making our day so memorable.

Perfect day biking through Kyoto - Had an awesome time biking through the city with our guide Quin. Our family of 4 with two teenagers had a perfect day. The insight into the different temples and an education on Japan itself was a bonus. I loved the perspective of seeing the town by bike through crowded areas of town and tiny back alleys. Lunch was delicious and Quin was very adaptable throughout the tour. Highly recommend!!

Amazing Experience with Cycle Kyoto! - We had such a great time on our bike tour with Cycle Kyoto! Our guide was incredibly personable and full of positive energy. You could tell right away how passionate he was about Kyoto—he shared so much knowledge about the city’s history, culture, and hidden gems, all with a great sense of humor that kept things fun and engaging. He also took us to some fantastic local food spots that we never would’ve found on our own. It was the perfect way to explore the city. Highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kyoto!
