Great experience - Our tea ceremony experience in Kyoto was truly magical. From the moment we entered the serene, traditional tea room, we were transported into another world. The setting was peaceful, with soft bamboo floors and delicate flower arrangements that set the perfect tone for the ceremony. The host, a skilled tea master, walked us through every step with grace and patience, explaining the symbolism behind each movement and the significance of the tea itself. Sipping the matcha, prepared with such care, felt like a meditative experience—each taste rich and grounding. The whole ritual was more than just about tea; it was a deep cultural immersion that allowed us to appreciate the artistry, philosophy, and history behind this timeless tradition. It was a moment of stillness that brought us closer to the heart of Japanese culture. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Kyoto!

Authentic experience - Wonderful from start to finish. Enjoyed the explanation and demonstration of the different elements of the tea ceremony, especially the importance of cleaning your mind and respect for who the tea is being prepared for. Also enjoyed making our own delicious dose of matcha tea!

Kyoto tea ceremony - Tea ceremony guide was friendly, hospitable, knowledgeable, professional, and entertaining. His explanation of the tea ceremony was good. It was a pleasure to watch him perform the tea ceremony process. Would recommend.

Do this experience! - Camilla's tea ceremony was everything we'd hoped for. We got a glimpse into this nuanced and historic custom, with a guide who brought us into the Japanese tea world with just a few gestures. We left with so much appreciate for this art, and it was the perfect amount of time (45 min). Being able to try to make the tea ourselves was a ton of fun and also showed even more clearly why it's not an easy craft to master! We are very thankful we booked this experience, highly recommend!!

Something Different - Arrived soaking wet but soon relaxed due to atmosphere. A little difficult to find even with Google maps. Ceremony lasts about 45mins including an introduction to the process. Enjoyable enough but not essential.

Glad we did it but average - Interesting experience and in an area well worth visiting. The ceremony itself was in a very small, plain room. A man in drab colours led the ceremony. Overall experience was therefore a 3 or 4 out of 5.

Interesting cultural experience - Ikuku did a great job explaining the elements of a formal tea ceremony. This is a very low key, relaxing experience. We all got to whisk our own matcha and taste matcha tea and a sweet treat. Be prepared to remove your shoes (socks provided if needed) and sit on a tatami mat (low stool provided if needed). It is difficult to find the location despite their directions, so give yourself time to arrive or ask nearby shops.

Average - The experience was underwhelming and lackluster. Not something that I would book again. I enjoyed the kimono rental, but the matcha ceremony was a waste of time since I already knew a lot of the information regarding matcha. We just watched as they performed some sort of ritual and then she had us whisk our own matcha. It felt like a waste of time.
