Fun, informative and atmospheric - Group size up to 8 people in a pleasant room with air conditioning. The tea ceremony was clearly and nicely explained by the hostess after which we were allowed to prepare tea ourselves. A very educational and fun experience!

Lovely experience with a nice hostess - I really enjoyed this tea ceremony! It was a lovely experience with a very nice hostess who made sure we enjoyed ourselves. I wanted to learn about the ceremony in person while in Kyoto and feel very fortunate to have done this at this beautiful teahouse. This was my first time making and having matcha. Grateful to have had this experience in Kyoto, Japan.

Highly recommend! - A wonderful experience!!! I really wanted to enjoy a tea ceremony without having to travel very far out of Kyoto and without spending a whole lot of time. This was PERFECT. Easy location (walkable in Gion); no time or $ wasted on a kimono dress-up (I wasn't interested in this, but it is an add-on service if you choose!); and we spent about 45min. Our ceremony was so peaceful, informative, and we loved the experience of making matcha ourselves! Book early as it seems to fill up quickly (we got SO lucky the day before as someone apparently cancelled last minute and 2 spots opened up!!). Highly recommend!

Tranquil Tea ceremony experience. - Our visit to the Camellia Flower Teahouse was wonderful. The serene ambiance provided a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of a frenetic city . Our tea master (didn’t catch her name) gracefully demonstrated the art of the tea ceremony, allowing us to learn about this intricate ritual and even try our hand at it. Her expertise and the inviting atmosphere made for a truly memorable experience. I highly recommend the Camellia Flower Teahouse to anyone looking to immerse themselves in the beauty of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. This hidden gem offers a unique opportunity to engage with Japanese culture and enjoy a moment of tranquility. Book early as they sell out & I can see why!

Find a different tea ceremony. - The hostess was lovely and the surroundings beautiful. The location was out of the way. It was a pretty ceremony but felt like I would have gotten just as much from you tube! Sadly, we were all underwhelmed by the experience.
