Calligraphy class near Kyoto Station. - I got an hour of one on one coaching in Shodo. Sensei-San had me work on a number of words including the Kanji version of my name and also my favorite word. At the end you get to walk away with your own artwork fitted into a frame for a souvenir.
Highly recommend it for those studying Japanese but fun for anyone really.

Bamboo forest tour - Waka and Rena were amazing tour guides! We had so much fun, learned a lot and had a great experience. The shopping and treats were amazing. Arigato!

Having fun learning Japanese calligraphy - We decided to book this class as the reviews were very positives on this same website.
It was easy to find the please even though the Kyoto station is so big and we were coming from the other side .
Haruko welcomed us with such an amazing energy. There was just my husband and I for this class so we were very lucky.
They gave us the samples of our written names ( and meaning ) in the 3 types of characters ( Kanji, Harigana & Katakana) and during the class they guided us on how to reproduce them with a wide blush first , then a smaller one and finally with a special pen.
They gave us all the materials that we worked on as a souvenirs as well as photo frame and a hand-fan.
Haruko and Mizue have been so kind and so friendly it was a real great moment and we had a lot of fun
I would highly recommend to do this workshop!!!!

Above and beyond! - This was truly an incredible experience. The service exceeded all expectations. It was my husband’s first time trying calligraphy, and he had never written anything in Japanese before, as he is a non-Japanese English speaker. The class took place in the office of a taxi company, and although it was just the two of us, we were supported by a calligraphy instructor, her assistant, and a personal translator who worked directly with my husband. The translator sat beside him, guiding him through each character, teaching him how to write each stroke step by step. At the end of the class, we were each given six beautiful sheets of calligraphy, carefully rolled and protected with newspaper and placed in a clear file. We also received a photo frame with a picture of us, printed on the spot. It was an unforgettable experience and honestly one of the best value for money activity I’ve ever done off of TripAdvisor

Super unique experience! - had an incredible time at this Japanese calligraphy class! The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and passionate about the art, making it easy to follow along even as a beginner. It was super fun and I left with a newfound appreciation for this beautiful craft. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and cultural activity in Kyoto! Also what you get to leave with make really great souvenirs!

Very fun experience and good for personal souvenirs - The staff were very helpful and chatty, and guided us through creating a set of souvenirs for ourselves with our names and favourite words in Kanji, Hiragana, and Katakana characters.

We had a great time at calligraphy class! - The class had a nice pace! They had our ink and brushes all ready when we arrived. We got to learn how to write our name in the three different types of Japanese characters. Then we also got to choose how to write a favorite word! Also I got to write a “congratulations” card for my daughter’s upcoming college graduation. The teachers were very encouraging and told us exactly the proper way to brush each stroke. It was really cool!!

A fabulous activity - This was a really great experience, the ladies were absolutely fantastic. We got to practice for a while first and then painted directly onto a fan. We then painted on a piece of card which was framed. Finally we wrote our names onto a typical gift envelope. 5000 yen in total which I think was fantastic value. The session lasted a total of two hours. Really enjoyed this activity.

Excellent Calligraphy Class - Waka was amazing! They went out of their way to give an excellent calligraphy lesson and were very supportive and patient. If you are in Kyoto I strongly recommend booking in for a lesson with them.

Fun learning experience - We took the 5000 yen course and got our moneys worth. You do a lot of different things like post cards, fans, a few words and a framed card. The people were very nice and patient! Wonderful experience.
