- Kiyomizu-dera Temple - Discover the historic Higashiyama district, known for the renowned preserved streets of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka. Guests will be guided to Kiyomizu-dera Temple to appreciate its stunning architecture and iconic red gate from the outside. Visitors can wander through the temple’s outer grounds, which offer breathtaking views. Note: Entry to the main wooden stage (inner hall) is optional and not included. Tickets can be purchased on-site if desired.
After exploring the temple, enjoy free time to meander through the historic Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka preserved districts. These charming streets are lined with traditional tea houses, souvenir shops, and local snack stalls. It’s an ideal spot to rent a Kimono (optional, at your own expense) for photos or enjoy a traditional Japanese lunch.
- Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine - Visit the main shrine of Inari, situated at the base of a mountain. This location is globally renowned for its thousands of vermilion torii gates (“Senbon Torii”), which form a network of trails behind the main buildings.
It is arguably the most iconic photo location in Kyoto. Visitors will have time to hike part of the trail to capture the “tunnel of gates” effect and purchase unique fox-shaped amulets.
- Nara Park - Travel to Nara, Japan’s first permanent capital, to encounter the city’s most famous inhabitants: over 1,000 wild sika deer that roam freely in the park. These deer are considered divine messengers and are generally friendly (especially if you buy some “shika senbei” or deer crackers to feed them!).
Within the park, guests can also choose to visit the magnificent Todai-ji Temple (home to the Great Buddha) or Kasuga Taisha Shrine independently (Admission fees are not included).
