Magical day in Kyoto - I can’t recommend highly enough! We had a magical tour in Kyoto seeing all everything on our wish list including a rare sighting of geishas and it also snowed on us at the Golden Pavillion and Bamboo Forest.
Our guide Keshara was very knowledgeable about the area and tailored our tour to make sure we could see everything, saving us lots of time dropping us off at the front door of attractions.
We visited the following on our tour:
- Fushimi Inari Shrine
- Kiyomizu-dera Temple
- Higashiyama Jisho-ji (Ginkaku-ji)
- Nijo Castle (outside look)
- Nishiki Market
- Gion
- Kinkaku-ji (Golden Pavillion)
- Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and bridge

Keshara did such a great... - Keshara did such a great job showing us around Kyoto. He was punctual, knowledgeable, friendly, and kind. He was a great driver and knew all the good ways to get around to the different sites. He was great about finding us after seeing one of the sites and was careful to make sure we were close to everything and seeing all the beauty around us. He was a great conversationalist, and kept things interesting and fun! It was such a great way to get to know Kyoto! I would highly recommmend this private tour!!

Perfect day with Keshara! - Keshara was our driver. He was very informative, polite accommodating and flexible. Picked us up in Osaka at cruise ship then drove us to Kyoto (90 min drive). He made great suggestions for us including a wonderful lunch spot. The 4 of us split the cost, cheaper than cruise ship excursion. He gets an A+++!

Day Trip to Kyoto - On a three-day trip to Tokyo we knew we just had to fit in a day trip to Kyoto, even though everyone told us it couldn’t be done. Keshara met us at the Kyoto train station in his spacious, comfortable van. He took us on a memorable tour following a well-curated itinerary he had designed especially for our 3-person group of the very best attractions Kyoto has to offer. Polite, patient, friendly and knowledgeable, Throughout the tour Keshara provided useful nuggets of information about all the attractions we visited and helped us to truly appreciate the beauty of this enchanting city. The highlight of the day was lunch at a truly amazing steakhouse in the famous district of Gion (no geisha sightings unfortunately…). It was a superlative experience. He drove us back to the station where we caught our bullet train back to Tokyo having enjoyed a fulfilling day in Kyoto. We hope to be back in Kyoto soon to more fully savor the city’s splendor. Keshara has promised to reprise his role as our trusty guide. We can’t wait!

Professional and courteous - Had a great time at Fushimi Inari and Bamboo forest walk. Keshara was friendly knowledgeable and able to accommodate all our requests.

Disappointing, not informative, limited - Our guide did not explain things as we were riding. He spent more time speaking with his assistant. She was new and not knowledgeable. They were pleasant but parents were old and he was not accommodating like our last tour.

Unfortunately cannot recommend - Unfortunately I cannot recommend this tour. We had two families and had a private driver. We were expecting a tour by a local as advertised. Instead we had a driver for the day. There was no tour guide - he stayed with the car. He was a lovely man but not a local and communication was difficult. We followed other tour guides to find out information. If you just want an expensive driver for the day go for it, if you want to learn about Kyoto and what you are seeing then do not take this tour.

Disappointing experience - We booked this tour after much reading and research. The reviews were between good and bad so we tried them out. First of all we had a bad day with rain but we decided to make the best of the day since we had this as one of our cruise excursion stops.
Kyoto is very important itinerary for us but it started with Keshara being late arriving as our agreed time. Then the van is filthy and not something you expected in Japan. Turns out that he is the driver and guide and he spoke so softly that we all cannot understand not hear him properly.
In terms of Overall experience, he was not professional at all as a guide in terms of his tardiness and personal grooming needs more attention.

Rip-Off - Tour guide never showed. We were scheduled to start at 8 a.m. We left three calls for the tour guide, who finally called back around 9:30 a.m. and then said he could show up at 10:30 a.m., so we just toured Kyoto without the guide.
