During this adventure, you will explore two distinct snack bars, each offering a unique ambiance and a group of local patrons. Japanese snack bars are not primarily focused on food. Instead, they are laid-back local hangouts centered around drinks, conversation, and karaoke, typically hosted by the owner, affectionately known as “Mama,” who fosters a warm and inviting environment.

Accompanied by a local English-speaking guide, you’ll discover bars you might not venture into alone, learn the ins and outs of snack bars, and experience Kyoto’s nightlife just like the locals do.
