38-4 Fukakusa Watamorichō - Upon arrival at the house, an English-speaking host will welcome guests and lead them to the kitchen. Here, participants will engage in a hands-on class to learn how to make a type of Wagashi (Japanese sweets), rather than just observing a demonstration.
After the class, guests will participate in a tea ceremony. Initially, the host will provide instructions on how to attend the ceremony.
Subsequently, if the weather permits, participants will stroll through a quaint garden and enter a traditional Japanese-style room. Once seated on the tatami floor, the instructor will discuss the history of the tea ceremony and explain the significance of the hanging scroll on the wall.
Guests will then enjoy the Japanese sweets they crafted, while the instructor demonstrates the proper way to drink a bowl of Matcha.
Finally, the host will perform the ceremonial preparation of Matcha, which guests will then savor. Participants will also have the chance to prepare Matcha themselves.
All instructors are licensed guide interpreters, ensuring that all participants can fully comprehend the information shared during the class. After this experience, participants will be equipped to prepare Wagashi and serve Matcha to their friends.
