Wonderful experience in 4-hour private Kyoto tour with Kaz! - My family of 5 had a 4-hour private tour of Kyoto with Kaz in mid-June and it was wonderful! Since this was our first trip to Japan, we were not sure what we should see beyond the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, so we asked Kaz to recommend a temple and a castle/palace when he reached out to us via email before our trip. He recommended the Kyoto Imperial Palace and Nijo Castle, as well as a temple. We decided that three sites would be plenty for our four-hour tour. On the day of the tour, Kaz was early to meet us at our hotel lobby and answered general questions about finding our way around Kyoto before we left the hotel to walk to the subway station. When we arrived at the Shrine, he started with introductory material about temples and shrines in Japan, and gave us background on the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine in particular. He was patient with our many picture-taking stops, took many pictures of our family, and was able to answer all of our questions. Next we went to Nijo Castle, where he again gave us great information about imperial history, explained symbolism behind the various trees and animals in the paintings on the wall, showed us where we could take pictures. Finally, we went to the Imperial Palace, where he explained the history of the palace and the various buildings as we walked around the grounds. Overall, we had a great experience! Kaz was well-prepared with informative visual aids on our sites. He was an attentive, patient, and knowledgeable tour guide who not only told us about the sights we visited, but also explained how to navigate the subways and trains in the area on our own during the rest of our stay in Kyoto and answered general questions about Japan (like why there were yellow lined blocks on all the sidewalks). We highly recommend the private Kyoto tour!

Great 4-hour introduction to Kyoto - We had a great warm day with Shu as our guide in Kyoto. He was both knowledgeable and friendly and had even prepared in advance a recommendation for a gluten-free restaurant where we could eat after the tour. Very much recommended!»
