An Amazing Experience at Fushimi Inari and Fuhuji Temple! I recently took a guided tour to two of Kyoto’s most iconic l - I recently took a guided tour to two of Kyoto’s most iconic landmarks—Fushimi Inari Shrine and Fuhuji Temple—and it was a truly remarkable experience. The tour was well-paced, allowing plenty of time to enjoy the stunning sites without feeling rushed. Our guide, Mika, was fantastic. She made the experience even more enjoyable with her deep knowledge of the temples’ history and her engaging storytelling. At Fushimi Inari, walking through the mesmerizing torii gates was magical, and Mika explained the cultural significance behind them in such a way that made the visit even more meaningful. We also visited Fuhuji Temple, where Mika’s insightful guidance brought the rich history and serene atmosphere of the temple to life. The peaceful surroundings were the perfect contrast to the energetic vibe at Fushimi Inari. Spending about four to five hours on this tour was just the right amount of time. It felt like a deep dive into Kyoto’s spiritual heritage, and I couldn’t have asked for a better guide than Mika. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to explore Kyoto’s temples in a more personal and enriching way

A Quiet Path Through Kyoto’s Iconic Fushimi Inari - This was a great tour to avoid crowds and peacefully enjoy Fushimi Inari. We went through a lesser-known path that created a peaceful experience. I liked how our guide spoke excellent English and took the time to explain the historical periods of Kyoto and why it is such a beautiful and traditional place in Japan. I also had a lot of fun with the guide Mika san—friendly, knowledgeable, and easy to talk to. Highly recommended if you're looking for a meaningful and relaxed way to explore one of Kyoto's most popular sites.

A Walking Tour for Nature Lovers and Japanese Culture Enthusiasts - Our tour guide, Mika, took us on a captivating journey that blended natural beauty with rich cultural insights. We began at Tofuku-ji Temple, where we were treated to the stunning sight of lush green maple leaves. Mika explained the history and architectural features of this renowned Zen temple, deepening our appreciation of its tranquil atmosphere. Next, we visited the serene Komyo-in Temple, known for its peaceful Zen garden. I particularly enjoyed the rock garden, accompanied by the soothing sounds of birdsong. Mika shared more about Zen philosophy and even guided us in spotting hidden shapes within the building—a fun and thoughtful experience. We then made our way to the back paths of Fushimi Inari Shrine, where Mika introduced us to the unique customs of Shintoism and taught us the proper way to offer prayers. As we hiked halfway up the mountain, we were rewarded with sweeping views of the landscape below. On our descent, we passed through the iconic path lined with thousands of Torii gates, a breathtaking and unforgettable sight. Mika’s deep knowledge and familiarity with the area—like it was her own backyard—truly enriched the experience. It was a thoroughly enjoyable four-hour walk, full of beauty, learning, and memories to cherish.

A Refreshing and Peaceful Experience at Fushimi Inari – Unlike Any Visit Before! - Although I’ve visited Fushimi Inari Taisha several times before, this walking tour offered a totally new and delightful perspective! The experience far exceeded my expectations. The tour began at Tofuku-ji, where our knowledgeable guide shared the origins and historical significance of the temple, as well as the architectural features and functions of the surrounding buildings. It was a wonderful opportunity to deepen my understanding of Japanese Buddhism and its philosophies. A hidden highlight was visiting Komyo-in, a small and quiet sub-temple within Tofuku-ji. The interior featured a humble tatami room with beautifully shaped windows overlooking the peaceful garden. The Hashintei Garden in particular was simply breathtaking – a tranquil space that allowed us to unwind and mentally prepare before the climb at Fushimi Inari. Instead of starting from the busy front entrance, we ascended the mountain trail from the quieter back path. This route not only gave us stunning panoramic views of Kyoto, but also allowed us to enjoy the iconic torii gates without the crowds. The path was shaded and offered occasional resting spots, making it very manageable and enjoyable, even for families. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a more serene and meaningful Fushimi Inari experience. Perfect for those who want to see the famous sights but avoid the usual tourist rush!

A Peaceful and Insightful Kyoto Experience - This tour was a perfect balance of famous landmarks and hidden gems. Until we arrived at the famous thousand torii gates of Fushimi Inari, there were fewer people, which made the experience even more peaceful and enjoyable. Our guide, Mika, was excellent, providing clear and concise explanations about the history, religion, and culture at each site. I learned a lot, and that deeper understanding made the scenery in front of me even more meaningful and the whole tour much more engaging. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to explore Kyoto beyond the usual tourist path.

A zen garden and a scenic view hike - It was an amazing half-day tour beginning early in the day with visiting a much quieter part of Kyoto, Tofukuji temple and its subsidiary temples. Mika-san, our guide, explained the history behind this huge Zen Buddhist temple with illustrations and I was amazed by interesting insights like the hidden Buddhist altar of the Sanmon Gate. We also visited a tranquil Zen garden of Komyo-in and it was the highlight of this walking tour. We then hiked Mt. Inari from a different direction to visit the famous Fushimi Inari shrine. I highly recommend this tour to those interested in Japanese culture and religions.
