The dojo, “Yushinkan Kyoto,” is led by a headmaster with over 20 years of expertise. It is a place for committed students who are undergoing intensive training.

Observing and participating in this genuine training provides a unique perspective on the samurai swordsmanship that has been handed down through generations.

What to expect:

1. Dress in Samurai Training Gear (Dōgi, Obi, and Hakama)
2. Learn iai (katana drawing) techniques
3. Practice kenjutsu (katana fighting) techniques
4. Observe students and the master cutting rolled tatami mats with a real katana
5. Watch the master perform with a katana
   *Please note that test cutting with a real katana is not available
