Highly recommended - great food orientated tour of a fascinating market with Leandra. - Leandra was fabulous. We learned so much! She was very accommodating of the fact that we don’t eat red meat. The tour taught us about both the history of the market and the local food. She was knowledgeable and was able to speak to the stall holders in Japanese but her first language is English. The food was amazing and the tour was thoughtfully ordered. We thoroughly enjoyed the couple of hours. We would highly recommend the tour with Leandra. Don’t eat lunch before!

Kyoto’s Kitchen - Nishiki Market with Ninja Food Tours - This was an excellent tour of Kyoto’s kitchen. Chikako was an incredible guide; so knowledgeable with great stories, details and recommendations. I would absolutely recommend this tour. It was the perfect way to have lunch and learn some more about people, food, history and agriculture in and around Kyoto.

Nishiki Market Food Tour - Must Try - This was a fabulous food tour. Our guide Chicano was very knowledgeable and explained things very clearly. It was great way to experience the food scene with a local.

Nishiki Market Tour - Delicious! - The Nishiki Market tour in Kyoto was fantastic and a ‘must-do’ when in Kyoto. Our guide from Ninja Tours, Chikako, is a foodie and passionate about Japanese cuisine, as well as the amazing history of the area. We toured as 4 adults and 3 teens, and all agreed how delicious the food was and captivating the tour was! The hamo (pike conger eel) tempura from Uoriki (who have been selling fried and grilled fish since 1919) was the best. No wonder the market is known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen”. We would definitely recommend.

Look no further if you are a foodie - We did a tour with Chikako of Nishiki Market and thought both the tour and the guide were excellent. We are foodies and Chikako explained everything very well giving us great context and the history of the foods. We sampled a large variety ranging from snacks like rice crackers with seasonings to exotic foods like octopus stuffed with a quail egg, from desserts like matcha softserve and soy milk donuts to wagyu sushi. Highly recommend Chikako and Ninja Food Tours for all foodies visiting Japan!

This is the way to experience Nishiki Market! - So much of a food tour depends on the passion and knowledge of your guide. And Chikako was exceptional! My wife and I LOVED this tour - Chikako was really interested in the history and art around the market, the ingredients and provenance of the foods, and in our experiencing the market from the perspective of a local. The market itself is fabulous, and this is the best way to experience it. Thoroughly recommend!

Enjoyable Kyoto Food Tour - My husband, son and I had a great tour of the Nishiki market with Leandre. She was very informative and well organized. She was able to bring us to stalls we might not have noticed and helped answer questions for items we were interested in. She was mindful of everyone in the groups needs. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it.

Great progressive lunch at Nishiki Market. - Chikkako was an amazing guide who gave us so much information on Nishiki Market. We would never have tried the foods that she purchased for us and her knowledge of it made it such a great experience.
