A fun start to our day - 4 of us had a great time
It was fun making the furoshiki but equally the trip upstairs yto see examples and learn about techniques was highly informative.
To hear from a third generation maker was inspirational.

Amazing hands-on experience - highly recommend, and perfect for beginners! - Did this activity with my mum and we both had a blast! We really enjoyed getting to make our own furoshiki, and getting to explore the museum while our creations dried. The museum is quite small, but it’s very well thought out and there are some truly beautiful works on display. There are also lots of lovely items for sale in the shop. We didn’t know much about shibori (or textile dyeing generally) before this, but we learned a lot from this experience. The staff were so lovely and engaged, and speak very good English as a plus! I would say that the hands-on activity was the highlight, so strongly recommend trying to attend a workshop. All in all, a fantastic experience!

This is actually a 2-part... - This is actually a 2-part experience. first you create your shibori dyed item, then while its drying you walk through the museum upstairs. I enjoyed the shibori dye process thoroughly and will make more items in the near future.

A wonderful experience and a beautiful souvenir! - My husband and I took the furoshiki class and had a wonderful time! The instructor was delightful, very patient and encouraging, and all the other people working with her were wonderful as well. With her help and guidance we made two lovely furoshiki cloths that are fantastic souvenirs of our trip to Japan. The museum was also very interesting and there are lovely items for sale that are made from traditional cloth. I recommend this class without reservation!

A not to be missed experience in Kyoto - We spent a delightful afternoon learning about traditional methods for dying fabrics and trying our hand at it. We learned a lot and saw some exquisite work that required years to create.

We would do this again and again! - This was an absolutely delightful experience. Not only is the family so helpful and kind, but the museum is full of remarkable, beautiful textile art. My teens and I all really enjoyed the furoshiki dyeing class so much, and felt very welcome. We will happily do it again on our next visit to Kyoto, and until then, we will enjoy the beautiful piece of art we purchased from the museum!

Quality Experience - Learning Opportunity - Everything about this experience was worth it. It's a fun, family friendly environment with numerous individuals that speak English. My only comment is the dying, hands-on crafting portion is a little too standardized & easy. If you children are young or middle-aged, this is an ideal activity. For those of you in adulthood, the furoshiki is a great souvenir, but you may be underwhelmed with the crafting. The best surprise was the museum afterwards, which you can enjoy while your cotton creation dries. The employees working there shared details about all the pieces and how they were made. Our family spent twice as long just learning & enjoying the art. Their shop is also full of unique pieces that are perfect gifts for all females/styles. Overall, recommend the activity as a fun family experience, or just visit the museum, well worth it.
